The first thing your reader sees can mean the difference between success and failure. If comes across as boring or not even half-assed related to what they want, prospects won't give it a flying chance.

Some people think it's in the body or how great the product is but Im here to tell you if you can not attract your customer's attention nothing else matters. Anybody who has been in the Sales Copy game for any amount of time will tell you that the key to a successful advertisement is in a well thought out headline...

This is what David Ogily says about Headlines: "The headline is the most important element in most advertisements. It is the telegram which decides wheather the reader will read the copy. On average, five times as many people read the headline as read the body copy. Whe you have written your headline, you have spent .80 Cents out of your dollar. If you haven't done some selling in your headline, you have wasted 80%  of your money."

The most effective headlines in the industry tell the reader: "To Stop! This is something that you want!" They will always appear to the person's self interest also...

Here are the 4 Functions of a Headline:

  1. Get Attention
  2. Select the Audience
  3. Deliver a Complete Message
  4. Draw Your Reader into the Body Copy

My favorite type of headline that will always work is the "How To" Headline...Its just pure magic wherever you put it!  Another one of my favorites is the "testimonial headline". I like it alot because your customer does the selling for you with social proof. Just use their words, don't polish it and keep it in conversational tone and you got yourself a winner.

You probably saying, "that's great and all but how can I write a good headline?"

Well, here are my 4 U's I use when writing headlines:

  1. Make sure it's Urgent...Give the reader a reason to act now and not later...Limited Time offer's work great!
  2. Keep It Unique and specific so they know exactly what your doing
  3. Ultra-Specific-This teases the reader into reading further Exp: "What never to eat in China..."
  4. UseFull, it appeals to the readers self interest by offering a huge benefit...

Go through these with all of your headline's and just rate yourself on each. This little exercise will increase your opt-ins and conversions substantially with little effort...

Now go Kick butt!

Create Headlines

I've read several atricles, probably not good because they were not memorable, keywords make the difference as well as the market they are directed too?
