Sharing something of value
Group: Sharing Legitimate OpportunitiesAlright - here's what I'd like to see. In my endeavors, I want to find a company to market with/for that has been built for a different purpose than all the others.
It doesn't matter where you are in business, (traditional, direct sales, MLM) to prosper and expect to profit, you need to fulfill an unfulfilled need. You will excel and become the largest company in the world when you do.
The world needs juices, pills, lotions, potions, gidgets and gadgets - but the need has been fulfilled by the thousands companies that come and go.
So, what is something that is breakthrough? I'm not interested in a breakthrough protein drink. That's not breakthrough - because every company says it is breakthrough - and you research protein, and it really only serves one purpose - and our bodies don't require breakthrough discoveries or technologies to get the protein it needs.
And although products are what drives our business, I don't want that to be the focus. When that becomes the focus, it becomes more evident that the company with the product exists to profit, and profit only.. Again, not a bad thing, but this focus can lead to higher sales quotas for reps, all types of debt to cover expansion costs, public trading, company selling, etc, which are all things that are fulfilling the need for the company to profit.
I want to see something that has the representative at the forefront of the leadership's mind. All the decisions made in head office are for the benefit of the reps - not the net worth of the corporation.
Now, don't let that be taken to the extreme of having a product that has such a high commission that it becomes impractical. I got pitched once to join this company that boasts a product that pays reps 60% commission on first level and %5 commission on the next three generations in your downline. Puhlease! I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing that I charge someone $50.00 for a bottle of vitamins worth $12.50.
Fulfill an unfulfilled need. The company does exist - I just want to know if another one does.

Something of Value
I think I understand what you're saying. Something I've found is that "value" changes depending on the individual. One way to understand what is valuable to the person you're dealing with...is to listen to them, capture their goals, unite them with yours, and work towards them. In that light...what do you find valuable?
Value for all
It would seem to me that value is found in a product that everyone needs. Needs vary as the economy fluctuates, so the company would have to have diversity to maintain consistency through all times. It would have to adapt to the evolution of the marketplace to be relevant for the Independent Rep's business to last through generations of change. For instance, if I was marketing a phone with pulse dialing, I would have to adapt and provide touchtone when the time came, cell phones when the time came, and smart phones when the time came - otherwise, my reps would go out of business.
Now, I understand that people need certain nutrition, but the market is literally saturated with thousands of companies that do that, so the need has been filled. The value of being with that company, and partnering with others is diminishing almost daily.
Let's make a wild success in a creative idea that allows various products and services used worldwide (on a consistent, even habitual basis) to be purchased through the networking model.
The value of that would be the same, never changing depending on the individual.
Everyone has the goal of creating more for themselves and/or their family. The value in fulfilling that is infinite, and that's what makes the Networking model the most ethical on earth.
Combine that need with the value of a business that doesn't rely on certain industries or markets to have positive influence over the consumption of their product, and you now have that unfulfilled need filled.
But I've been accused of over thinking things.. lol An idealist if you will.
At the same time, I want to know if there's something out there like that.
I love the way you think...
It's great to hear someone with innovation and hope for a better business prescription than the one that's out there. I hear what you're saying and I truly believe the current business models are trying to make adjustments to serve the growing needs of the people and their "followers". As you said, they have to adapt or it's "curtains".
If you look at the Health and Wellness industry, you'll see that it is constantly changing and evaluating what the customer demands are. Being a billion dollar industry and soon to be a multi-billion dollar industry, thanks to the Baby Boomer Generation, they must evolve and change.
I believe that the market is fairly saturated, but as always with any business model or industry, the best will surface. I've noticed that many wellness companies are adapting by adding new products, better delivery (i.e. the body being able to physically process the supplements more efficiently), others are continually designing new ways to educate their reps and customers and so on...
I don't think you're over thinking Paul...I think you're thinking just enough as you seek the best of what's out there and utilize your talents to make it work for you. Just don't allow your processing to "stop" your forward motion :)
One last thought, I think in an effort to diversify and stay current with the needs of our constituents, many of us have multiple streams of income. Whatever works is what's right for that individual. The whole point is to make it happen!
To your success and health,
