Changes at Google - According to Matt Cutts
Group: Better Networker Newbies GuideThe tide is turning for all the techie geeks out there. According to Matt Cutts those SEO gods should now start thinking like marketers. Which gives all us ready made 'marketers' a distinct edge.
I am no techie by any means, but Matt is pretty cool and basically if you watch the following video, I think you'll get what he's trying to say. Google may well still be interested in your meta tags (if you even know what they are, do you know what they do, or how to make them do something else?), but with the increase in personalised and localised search, website owners need to concentrate more on their content and visitors than they do on ranking for their chosen 'trophy' keyword.
He mentions some other cool (but techie) stuff on here too. But as newbies you just need to be aware that creating good, valuable content that people will want to read, listen to or watch is really the best way to start your SEO campaigns.
And btw, if you don't know what SEO is, it's Search Engine Optimisation. Basically, how to make your sites look prettier and more relevant in the eyes of the search engines, so that they'll serve them up more to searchers. As Matt explains, make them look prettier and more relevant to humans. Duh!
Watch the video and see what you think.

yay
