Do you know how to put a business on Facebook?

Dotty Scott — Tue, 02/10/2009 - 11:03am

Yes

But, you have to pick a name that "looks" human, otherwise facebook won't accept it. You can start a group, which may be more effective for what you are trying to anyway.

Hope this helps - Zeb

Start a FB Page

Facebook is primarily a social meeting place.  Not as a business site.  For a better b2b site, get a profile on LinkedIn. There's a lot of infomation out of FB right now about how to use FB the right way as a social media site. I'm in a group on FB wherever everyone is committed to helping each other & others really understand how to get started in social media in the right, non-threatening way.  It's been really helpful, especially if you don't do it right, you will get banned very quickly.

However, FB pages is another story. This is the best way to go about putting your business on FB.  It's still fr.ee & allows you to select the category your business best fits into (i.e.: products, services, restaurants, consulting, etc.)  I do recommend creating a personal profile page for yourself. Remember, branding yourself is what will get you connections with others who will then be interested in you first.

Go out and look at other FB pages for businesses & see how they're setup & take your lead from there.

Good luck & hope this helps. If I can help in way, please let me know. I love social media & have made some absolutely wonderful friendships from it, whom I talk with daily. Just be sure you get started on the right path so you'll be successful.

Hi Debbie I really

Hi Debbie
I really appreciate your blog regarding FB. I am very new at this medium and do not want to offend or get blocked.
But I am looking for where you are suggesting we create a profile. Can u give me more details. You can also find me on facebook.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

Rachel, I think that somehow your reply to Debbie Zachary got sent to my gmail. She has the post right above your reply on BetterNetworker. If you are looking for where to put your profile on facebook, that happens right as you sign up for an account. If you are looking for LinkdIn, I am not familiar with that site as I don't use that one. Blessings, Debby

Hi Simon Use the app

Hi Simon

Use the app Memorable Web Addresses to get rid of the number in your link.  You can choose anything you want (as long as it is not already taken)

Thanks for the info Debbie....

I haven't been on BN long but I'm sure glad I joined BN first. I'm all about business so I wasn't sure that it would be appropriate for me to have a profile on FB considering that it seems to be more like MS which seem to me to be more for personal use. I started here and I'm trying to fulfill my duties here as a learner and educator before I start bouncing around to other sites especially after what was just in the news about FB. Thanks again for the heads up.

Great subject line certainly caught my attention...info I can certainly use and spread to my other network site. So try with so many social sites how you keep up with them. Best to work one build network add value before moving on to something else...Excellent Point
