PERSONAL BACKGROUND - My lovely wife, Mary Ann (an RN), and I have two great sons, Stephen and Graham - both are university graduates - one lives in Toronto, Canada - the other in Sydney, Australia.  Both are married (Stephen to Stephanie, an MBA / Engineer, from Hong Kong - and Graham, to Yuko, also an RN, from Japan). We're very proud of all of them!

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND - I'm a Financial Advisor and a Business Consultant by profession.  I have maintained a private practice for over 25-years, specializing with Health Professionals (physicians, dentists, chiropractors, naturopaths, surgeons, etc).  As well, for the last 20+ years, I've been a student, an entrepreneur and a coach in the Home Business industry - primarily within the Affiliate Marketing / Network Marketing / InterNetwork Marketing sectors.
 
ANMP - Having served for 4 years on the Board Of Directors of y/our professional association (ANMP - Association of Network Marketing Professionals - http://www.TheANMP.org - formerly the DRA), representing Canada, I have a passion for its mission.  The ANMP is a global, non-profit organization which serves to educate, protect and preserve the 'rights' of Home Biz entrepreneurs everywhere.  It is the "only" such organization of its kind in the world.
 
The BETTER NETWORKER Community - For years, I have belonged to many different Industry Groups,  Professional Associations, Business Forums, etc.  In my opinion, what Mike Dillard and his associates have put together for us, here at BN, is one of the finest mastermind and mentoring communities available anywhere for Home Biz entrepreneurs.  I will always be in "student mode" in such places.  
 
------------------- SPECIFIC 'INDUSTRY' COMMENTS ------------------
 
CHOOSING An MLM BIZ - When evaluating 'any' Home Business, always, always study the P&Ps (the Policies & Procedures) as JOB #1. Period.  Next, determine (in advance) if that particular business is a good FIT for "your" personality (these are some businesses that you could 'never' build successfully, because of your own particular personality trait [color]).  Also, determine if it is a FIT for you in terms of YOU having enough => money => time => sales & people skills to build it successfully (necessary, with most MLMs). Finally, check out the - company - owners - management - products - comp plan - systems - support - training, etc (the usual criteria).
 
SELF BRANDING - But above all else, position YOU, INC. as your business - not your MLM. In this way, YOU will be the "owner" - YOU will have the "control" - not the companies you choose to associate with.  Your MLM should be "just one part" of your overall business enterprize (although an 'important' part). Bottom line - develop "multiple income streams" - not only to diversify, for your long term protection - but also for your success and peace of mind.

As critical as having a solid Home Business is (especially now, in these economic times) - and as important as learning good business and Internet marketing skills and strategies 'for' that business is - any business should be thought of as only one part of a much larger goal => that of achieving TOTAL Economic Independence + Time Freedom. 

MINDSET - But above "all" else - our ultimate success - in our careers - in our businesses - in our professions - in our lives - will be governed by how we T-H-I-N-K.  Yes, our THOUGHTS are the "one" thing that WE have absolute  control over - that beautiful, fertile, powerful, 6-inch space between our ears.
