Alan Ablett

My name is Alan Ablett. I'm a young 53 who enjoys life to the full. I've got a good sense of humour and like to see the best in people whenever possible.

I have lived in Spain for the past 6 years. Before that I lived in the UK. I am married to Elaine and we have two grown up children - James is a physicist and now lives in Paris (he previously lived in New York - he chooses some great places for us to holiday!) Our daughter Joanne lives in the UK and runs her own childminding business and we have a beautiful and very precious grandaughter Isobel.

My backround is in Taining and Personnel. I worked for a large multinational company before moving over to Spain - starting at the bottom of the ladder, working on the shop floor, then becoming a Union Conveynor and finally working my way up to Senior Management - which was very unusual to achieve in those days as those in management tended to come from traditional backgrounds.

But after years of hard labour (working long hours, working away from home, working in a very stressful job) we decided to quit the "rat race" and move abroad to what we hoped would be a more relaxed, less stressful life.

Although we had no plans on what we were going to do in terms of work when we moved here, it wasn't long before we were kicking our heels and eager to get into some form of work so we set up a Property Management/Holiday Rental and Estate Agency. It wasn't easy - in the early days we had to walk the streets knocking on doors asking new property owners if they would like us to manage their property for them. But we built it into a very successful business and within two years sold on the property management side of the business as a going concern.

At that time we were living on the coast but really it was just like being back in the UK. The amount of Brits outnumbered the Spanish by far and we wanted to experience the "real Spain" so we moved inland to a rural part of Spain where the British are in the minority - and where you definitely have to learn to speak the language!

We continued with the real estate side of things and again, things have been going pretty good - well, until that last eighteen months or so. As you know, the real estate industry has taken a real kicking, so we decided rather than sit about waiting for things to worsen we would diversify and look for a new opportunity. That's how I came into the Network Marketing business. Fortunately, Elaine and I have always invested in our education - our home is full of books and so we had read lots of great publications such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, Awaken The Giant Within, Think And Grow Rich...and many,many more! And had self funded Marketing courses, too, so I was already educated on the subject of marketing.

But like most Network Marketers, I set off on our business down the "old school methods" road. But I quickly recognised that this was not the way forward if I wanted to grow a successful business and generate a good income. So I knew that I had to find a different way of doing things if I wanted to stay in this business and be successful. So I turned my search to the internet and fortunately I came across some great mentors who spelt out clearly why the way I was doing things would never work for me (one of these was Mike Dillard, of course!). These had me thinking in a completely different way about my business. From that day forward I started turning my business around, using up to date strategies and concepts - the days of running around like a headless chicken are now gone.

I 'm very passionate about Network Marketing -I really wouldn't like to turn my hand to anything else now. I'm keen to help others develop their MLM skills and achieve success. I'm looking to build a strong and successful Network Marketing team whocan benefit from my experience, skills and knowledge and who are eager to learn the strategies and systems that will enable them to become successful Network Marketers.
