Interests
I like to listen to easy listening music, "Train", "Westlife" (yes, I can hear it now) and believe it or not, I also like "Country & Western".
I really enjoy reading a good book, one that grabs your attention and that you cannot put down. The Harry Potter series springs to mind. I read the first one in January 2006 and basically could not put it down for a week, I read all 6 of the first books over a 7 day period, that is all I did for a week! I must point out that I was unemployed at the time and was waiting for various paperwork to come through that would then allow me to work.
I am now very much into personal development books, and read constantly. "The Answer" by John Assaraf, "4 Hour Workweek" by Timothy Ferriss and another one I would recommend is "Double Your Income, Doing What You Love" by Raymond Aaron.
I love good food, but being originally from South Africa, my favourite meal would have to be a 300g fillet steak with chips, onion rings and salad on the side.
Activities:
I love cycling, recently bought myself a proper roadbike and I have started putting on quite a few miles. The plan is to complete a few more sportive cycle rides of between 50 - 100 miles between now and November. I completed the London to Brighton cycle ride (54 miles) in aid of the British Heart Foundation in June 2010.
We have also recently purchased 3 kayaks, which all 4 of use, I take the 10 year old with me on the double and my eldest son and my wife each have a single and we usually head out to the bay at about 6AM, almost nobody is around and we have the beach to ourselves, about an hour and a half usually does it and we have a blast.
I enjoy taking my dogs for a walk in the common. I have recently as part of the coaching prgram I am involved in started to learn to sail, which is a lot of fun, so I plan to progress with that over the summer and see where it takes me.

Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds and shall find me unafraid
It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

About Me
Hello, my name is Alan and I live on the Isle of Wight with my wife and our two son's
I suppose I always knew what I wanted to do from a very young age, it was just unfortunate that I acted so late!
I never liked authority, not in school, not at college and even when I was in the army, I still did certain things that went against the grain! I can remember doing drill one day and when our break was over, I went awol with some of the guys who were exempt due to illness and basically excused myself, because I just did not feel like following the Corporal's rules.
Now, don't get me wrong, I could have ended up in detention barracks for that stunt and it was stupid, but I am a risk taker. I loved my time in the army and I was very good at it, but I have always wanted to forge my own path, to be responsible for my own destiny.
Business has been in my genetics for a long time. I can remember making and selling juice at a young age. I bought and sold Christmas cards and decorations as a teenager.
One of the biggest ventures I undertook was starting my own transport brokerage. I was running large quantities of goods very long distances and I made an awfully large amount of money, but transport being the game it is, I also lost an enormous amount of money and ended up closing the company.
I have had many fixed jobs in between all my ventures, I have enjoyed some for a while, hated others from day one, ultimately I have always known that my place is to be in front of my own business!
It was just a matter of time before I headed down that path, the one that all entrepreneurs have to take at some point in their lives. Sometimes it can be a lonely path too, family do not always agree with your decisions in life and this can sometimes create obstacles that you had not planned on!
I love this quote from Darren Hardy who says: "I am climbing my mountain and I am going to the Top"!
I am a father, a husband and an entrepreneur. I absolutely love the internet and all it can offer in terms of freedom and financial prosperity. It is truly the invention of the 21st century.
I leave you with this quotation from Henry David Thoreau who says it best: "Go Confidently in the Direction of Your Dreams, Live The Life You Have always Imagined!"
Dream Every Day!
Take Action Every Day!
Never Ever Quit!
May your success be overwhelming!

Not really too sure what to say Dean. Did not really expect this much talk over this topic, but hey ho!
