Alright, here's where we level the playing field... I was born a musician, went to college to study and play music, and I will always be a musician.

If you know anything about the world of a struggling artist, especially one in college, then you know...

    * I had no previous business skills.
    * I had no previous sales training.
    * I had never marketed anything before in my life.
    * I didn't even know what MLM was when I found the network marketing industry.

But here's what I figured out my freshman year of university that completely changed my perception of the world and myself.  At the same time, it reminded me of who I REALLY am...

As a music student in a big liberal arts college, the one thing professor DON'T teach you is how to make MONEY as a musician. In fact, they all seemed so poor in relation to where I wanted to be, I didn't want to take financial lessons from them anyway!

After doing research online, I quickly realized there is a KILLING being made with online profits in sales and networking.  All you have to do is tap into the existing distribution channels, and duplicate the results of those who are successful!

This got me thinking... Hmmm... Why would I want to be a broke musician, making the music I love, but no material gain to show for it? Being a poor, struggling, college musician sucks!

I had wayyyy BIGGER dreams than being a slave to ANY job and I learned very quickly that owning my own business would be the only secure path to financial independence.

I could get rich first, then use my wealth as a buffer to comfortably live and make all the music I wanted!

With all this envisioning wealth, I started remembering the more important aspects beyond myself of building wealth.

I remembered being 6 years old and whole heartedly dreaming of being the richest person on the planet so I could buy food to feed the starving children in Ethiopia, buy the entire South American rainforest to prevent deforestation, singlehandedly pay off the national debt, and create all sorts of other feel-good nonprofit organization to create positive social, economic, environmental, and world change.

I remembered that my bigger purpose
on this earth was to HELP OTHER people.
(That's why I made this page!)

I was initially drawn to the concept of MLM, because it had what APPEARED to be the business model that could help the most people in the process. I loved the concept, and I loved the products, but I HATED the fact that I didn't make a penny.

Nope. Not one single cent. Not after $3000+ invested in materials, products, and leads, not to mention the lost time...

In between there, my sponsor had jumped ship on me, and I was left by myself to figure things out. I got a hold of my sponsor's sponsor to ask for advice. I thought that I should turn to the internet to figure out how to LEVERAGE my time and resources to meet new people.

He said, "Oh, I don't really know
anything about the internet.
Maybe you should go read a book about that."

So I did. Then I read another. And another. And another. And I still got no results.

I gave up the MLM ratrace. However, I remained a "spare-time student" of making money online. I knew that I could never work for someone else my entire life, but I just never knew who to trust. So many sales pages claim to offer the world, but end up never providing any real content. It became a habit of mine when I read a good headline to browse some of the content, then scroll to the bottom of the page to see "how much does this one cost...?"

Fast forward a couple of years, I'm working 2 (sometimes 3 jobs), 70+ hours per week, and am regularly $100s to $1000s overdrawn in my bank account every month. Still no time to devote to my one true love: making music.

Worse than that, I am spending 2 hours per day in rush hour traffic to my dead-end job, working 10-12 hour days at just ONE job.
 
I did the math: 40 hours per MONTH was spent in my car with a bunch of other cranky drivers. An entire work week every month was spent in the car, rather than doing the things I wanted to be doing: making music and making a difference in the world.

Needless to say, that made ME cranky as well...
My girlfriend did NOT like that.

All the while, I knew I had a bigger calling in life. I knew that there were things in life I was missing out on.  I wanted to buy a villa in Italy, start a nonprofit organization to fund music education for inner city schools, provide entrepreneur resources for immigrants, create programs to end deforestation of rainforests. I wanted to change the world, but I was stuck just trying to live!

How do I make the move from
just trying to SURVIVE,
and actually start to THRIVE?

So, after watching The Secret, I decided enough was enough. Time to find the right opportunity. I fired up the trusty internet, then I came upon this ad:

 "Make a realistic $250k potential online in your first year."

Seriously?  I have been over so many of these sales pages, and just scrolled to the bottom to see how much this next one would cost.

Surprisingly, this one had anticipated my first move. It said:

"Don't be a page scroller!"

"If you are serious about making money online, you must read every word on this page!" (This was my first introduction to attraction marketing, by the way...)

Even more surprising, there was no price tag at the bottom!

Even more importantly, this ad said something that I had NEVER seen while researching online business opportunities:

"If you are looking to get rich quick, or are looking for a lottery ticket, do us both a favor and look somewhere else. There is no such thing as something for nothing, and we are not trying to offer it here."

"However, if you are willing to do WHATEVER it takes, for as LONG as it takes to reach your dreams, I can show you a path."

WOW! You mean, it actually takes hard work to generate a ton of money online?

Someone is ACTUALLY being honest with me?

I am certainly not afraid of hard work. In fact, looking at my lifestyle to that point, that was ALL I had been doing: working WAY TOO HARD for ZERO return on investment for my time and sweat equity.

So I dove in headfirst. I borrowed money I didn't have. I made my move "before I was ready."

...talk about getting uncomfortable and committing! (this is the type of ACTION that is required if you're EVER going to become a top earner!)

My family and friends were all telling me that I was crazy. I should just learn to accept my lot in life and keep on truckin'. Actually, they suggested that I give up my house and everything I had worked for to be a vagabond musician.

Uh, yeah. Romantic and all,
but not that pretty in reality.

(You must be very careful at who you take advice from at this point. While most close friends and family telling you this mean well, their advice if often bad advice for financial matters.  If you continue to listen to THEIR advice, you will continue to get THEIR results. Your income is the average of the people within your social influence.  Do want to really want to take advice from your overworked, underpaid family, friends, and neighbors?)

Finally, I had finally found a real mentor. Someone I could trust. Someone who already had the results I was looking for, and someone who could SHOW me how to DUPLICATE his results.
