About Me
Basically, I see myself as an ordinary guy on an extraordinary journey with a Kettlebell in one hand and a Laptop in the other, helping people realise their potential in order to achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams!
I was born in the East coast town of Tweed Heads, Australia (on the Queensland/New South Wales border) at 2.53am, August 15th 1974.
I had your typical adventurous childhood, where I´d run around with the neighbourhood kids until the street lights turned on and it was time to head home for dinner.
My mum said I was a good kid…but I´m not too sure if she was just saying that cause she´s my mum!!!
After attending school on the Gold Coast for 9 years, and then 3 years at a private Boarding School in Brisbane, it was time for me to venture out in the real world!
Was the world ready for me? Too right!!
Was I ready for the world? No way!!!
I started working for a company that provided in-flight catering for the airlines (please don´t hold that against me!!!) and on my weekends, I was spending time on the tarmac and in the air putting myself through Flying School.
The cost of the practical and theory lessons was taking up a large chunk of my limited wage, and after 23 hours (12 hours solo) my flying took a back seat so I could hang out with my mates on my days off.
As you can see, back then I was more concerned about having fun than planning my future!
After a couple of years of working hard, but with no real direction, I decided to get a trade with the airline catering company I was working for and become a chef.
What a shock!
The work was tough, the hours were draining and the pay…well, the pay was almost non-existent.
About half way through, all I wanted to do was quit…and I very easily could have. I had people say to me “If you don´t like it, leave”
And to tell you the truth, 99% of the time, I have the exact same attitude! But on this occasion, if I threw in the towel and used the fact that I didn´t like what I doing to justify my decision, it would have had a flow on effect for life. And the last thing I wanted to do, was to take on the mindset of a quitter.
It would have been a waste of 2 years. 2 years of my life that I´d never get back.
So for the next 2 years I pushed on. Committed to finish what I had started. At least I´d be a qualified chef and no-one could take that away from me! It was a tough road but it was worth it. Even though I often felt like pulling the pin with the hours I was working (usually starting at 2, 3 or 4am) I thought if I could get through that, everything else would be pretty sweet!
I felt a serious change was needed so after attending a careers night, I began doing some unpaid work experience in the Creative Department of a local radio station. For the next 18 months, I´d do a day work experience here and there while working full time in the family bakery.
It was great! I was writing ads (again, please don´t hold that against me!) and occasional promotions for a diverse range of clients, both local and across the country. The thrill of creating a concept and writing a script from scratch, based on limited information was good fun and a great challenge.
Hearing the product come to life and getting positive feedback from clients and Account Managers, gave me plenty of confidence and satisfaction in my work.
Before long, I was on the books and had been transferred to North Queensland for a 9 month contract (or so I thought). I arrived in Townsville and knuckled down for the months ahead. But a few things happened, some staff left, and before I knew it, the North Queensland General Manager asked if I´d like to take on the Creative Director role.
To say I was shocked is an understatement! I almost fell off my chair! 11 months previous, I had been doing unpaid work experience! And now I was being asked to run a department of 5 writers, servicing 65 Account Managers from 20 different Radio Stations across North and Central Queensland.
I had absolutely nothing to lose, and everything to gain, so I took the promotion with open arms and continued to run the department for the next 2 and half years, until I joined the team down to the Gold Coast.
Perfect!!! I had a job I loved and I was going back home to my family and friends. Life was pretty good, but it was only getting better! Even though I had come a long way as a person and an employee, one piece of the puzzle was still missing.
When I moved back to the Gold Coast, I was staying with my dad for 2 months. And that´s when it happened.
At the end of my dad´s street, runs a street that is lined with million dollar beach side mansions. Everyday on my way to work, I´d drive past. And everyday I´d think to myself, “Wouldn´t it be nice!”
Unbeknownst to me, my mindset was changing with each and every pass along ´Millionaire´s Row´ until one day on my way to work, instead of saying “Wouldn´t it be nice” I asked myself “What can I do to live a life like that?”
It was then and there I decided I wasn´t going to settle for anything less than what I was worth.
Back then, I was leaving for work at 6am and getting home at 6pm. So with commuting, I was trading 60 hours a week for a paycheck.
Later that week at work, I was on the net doing some research for a client when I stumbled across some information about Network Marketing. I knew almost nothing about it, apart from the fact there were many successful people in the industry. So I looked a little deeper to find out what the fuss was about.
I jumped on Google and started searching Network Marketing. It´s a massive industry, that´s growing by the day. Even some of the biggest names in business are quick to endorse Network Marketing.
Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki were both asked what they´d do today, if they had to create a fortune from scratch. They both replied “Network Marketing”
And being a bloke that likes a little punt every now and again, I like to follow the smart money. So when Don and Rob said it was a goer…I was in!
I won´t lie…It´s a tough road at the start. But that´s what makes the journey so rewarding.
Think of it like a high rise building. You can´t build from the penthouse down, you have to start with the foundation. And the more time and effort you put in to lay the foundation, the higher you can build! It´s just a matter of staying focused on your goals, putting in the work and the results will follow.
Being a Network Marketer has also allowed me to help others recognise and apply the infinite power they have within, so they can grow as a person and reach their full potential in order to achieve their goals and fulfil their dreams in their personal life and in business.
And why does this appeal to me so much?
It´s like when I was writing radio ads…there was no better feeling than when a client would contact me to let me know the ad campaign we´d produced was a great success and had increased sales. The satisfaction, knowing you´d made positive a difference, not only to someone´s business, but to their life as well is a driving factor.
So if each and every day, I can make a positive difference in just 1 persons life, I´ll go to sleep a happy man!
I sincerely hope I can make a positive difference in yours!
Best wishes and every success in all your future endeavours.
Stay Gold!
Daniel Carmichael.
