About Me

All Roads Lead to My Own Home Business

I picked out the name of my first business while I was still a college student. That was a while back but even then I knew I wanted to have my own home business and work for myself. Since then I've been on an odyssey away from and back to that vision. As an aspiring journalist I worked as the managing editor of a peer-reviewed technical journal. That lead to my own desktop publishing business, which was moderately successful for a number of years but that ultimately failed. The next fork in the road sent me in an entirely different direction. I was a manufacturing supervisor for a Fortune 50 company and gradually positioned myself as a project manager and then into a marketing role.

.

Laid Off - Not Once But Twice!

My 10-year stint with the Fortune 50 company ended when the layoff ax finally took its turn with me and I found myself unemployed for the first time ever. I spent a year looking for the next great job, and found one with a smaller company that I enjoyed quite a bit. I traveled all over the world, saw airports, offices, and hotels in some pretty exotic locations, and - 16 months later - found myself laid off once again.

And all I had to show for it was a whole bunch of frequent flyer miles and regrets that I had been unable to really see and experience all the fantastic places I had visited.

.

What's Really Important?
For Me It's Having A Home Based Business

At this point I knew I had to make a change. I had to take responsibility for my own future by finding and seizing a great opportunity. After a little soul searching I discovered that I wanted to continue to travel, but I wanted to do it with people I love and in a way that would let me enjoy and appreciate each location. Mostly, though, I wanted to spend time at home - with the people I love most.

No more brutal commute! In my most recent two jobs I spent a good 3-4 hours per day commuting to and from the office - when I wasn't traveling overseas, that is. Add that to a 10-plus-hr work day and there wasn't much time left for family and friends. Today, I live where I want and I work where I live!

I can manage this home business from anywhere I can get an internet connection. That one small feature makes it ideal for both working from home and from the road when the travel bug bites me. The potential to make a LOT of money was also a pretty good selling point - but only the icing on the cake. The freedom to live my life in a style of my choosing is the most important bonus this business has given me.

.

Are You A Serious And Motivated Entrepreneur, Too?
