About Me

I presently live, coach and write in the small, northwest Iowa town of Inwood, not far from Sioux Falls, SD. Life Coaching and marketing services of value for people's lives represents the summation of my life’s mission, and is also fundamental to my writing. I have always devoted myself to exploring new paths of experience and to helping others follow adventurous paths. I have continuously stretched myself to achieve all I could imagine in every area of endeavor, and I have ceaselessly encouraged others to do so as well. Always, when I have accomplished a new goal or achieved a new breakthrough in life, I have turned immediately to share the joyful experience so as to encourage others.

I was born in Atlanta Georgia. I spent my earliest years moving with my family from place to place across Georgia and eventually northern Florida. After a freshman year at Emory University, I transferred to Florida State University where I achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Music as a singer. Later I returned to Atlanta to study English literature at Georgia State University and then to teach freshman and sophomore literature and music classes for two years at Oxford College, Emory University.

Encouraged to fully devote myself to a singing career, I then left college teaching and returned to studies at Indiana University School of Music. I began my professional singing career while at Indiana University, and after two years of graduate study there I moved to Washing D. C. to become lead tenor soloist at Washington Cathedral.

I held this position for eight years, while performing in New York’s Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, throughout the United States, Canada, and eventually France, England and Germany. I then moved to London where I lived for another ten years of further engagements in Europe as well as continuing ones in the US and Canada. During this time I also studied theology as part of an Anglican ministerial training course.

My desire to assist those in need led me first to work in a London day shelter for homeless people and eventually to return to my native Atlanta. There I established a support center for inner city street people and working poor called: “A Place Along the Way.” Together with devoted volunteers I assisted many to find rent for another month, clothing and shelter as well as drug rehabilitation when requested. I continued singing during this time as well and also deepened my spiritual development, widening my study to include world faiths and spirituality in its widest sense.

From Atlanta I moved to Missoula Montana where I assisted people on welfare in need of social security disability to survive the rigorous application process. Following several years of this rewarding work, I returned to University for graduate study in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy leading first to a position as Vision Rehabilitation Therapist for the Missoula office of Montana Blind & Low Vision Services. I then moved to Great Falls to become Managing Director of the Great Falls BLVS office, a position which I held for eight years before moving to Inwood to devote myself full time to Life Coaching, writing and online marketing.

Hello Douglas: Thanks for accepting my friend request on Better Networker. Most people who read Success In Ten Steps find out that its mandatory to mastermind with millionaires to be one, but some don't some people hang out with the broke people and remain that way. I love bicycle riding on the trails. Its great exercise!! Sincerely Lawrence Bergfeld
