About Me
Hello my name is Fernando Jiménez. I am from sunny San Juan Puerto Rico were the average temperature is 80 degrees farenheit all year round!. My first language is spanish. Almost all my business deals, about 95%, are done in Spanish. Since Puerto Rico is a US territory ( it is a long story, I will let you know the story in another forum) we do learn english in school. Most people do not practice it, but most people do. I am 95% bilingual ( read and speak) so I would like to expand my network connections to english and spanish speaking people. For that reason, if you find typos.... you know why :-).... now a little about me:
I used to be a assistant manager in a well know pharmacy chain back in the 80's. My desire to be more than that moved me to start a sales carrer in 1983. I started a a Key Account Manager selling cosmetics and cleaners for major US retail chain stores in Puerto Rico. Imagine that, cosmetics and cleaners!! what a combination!!
By 1985, I was first introduced to MLM. I was starting in sales and I was lacking a lot of skills needed to succeed. On the other hand, my upline's interest was not to give trainning, but to get the most out of the downline. As you can imagine, that was a total mess. Even with that bad experience I kept trying. I tried 3 more MLM's in the following 2 years and because of the same old school approach, all ended on a dead end street. So I decided to keep growing as a sales professional in several industries until I have the experience, knowledge and confidence to try MLM again.
The following 14 years I worked in technology sales, air/ocean freight sales and financial planning. I have a passion for sales, and the combined experiences shaped me into a all around knowledgeable sales professional. But that experience moved me to find more. Then and only then I felt I was ready to test my knowledge and experience and apply them to a new MLM opportunity. The trick was to look and wait for a good and legit one. And the best opportunities sometimes come from the less expected places.
So in november 1999, while on a trip to Argentina, right in the middle of the Andes, across the beautiful mountains betwween Argentina and Chile, I met this honey moon couple from Mexico. We spent the rest of the trip together in Port Mont and Santiago talking about business opportunities. A year later I visited them in Mexico and learned that a very succesful Mexican MLM company was going to open the US market. After a little research I joined them and started the business in Puerto Rico. And I by applying sales skills into the trainings, things began to move. From zero downline to over 1,500 associates in 3 countries in 20 months, and from zero sales to over a million dollars in retail sales per year. Not bad...
That was quite an achievement considering the fact that everything was done with traditional MLM procedures. My organization grew to become the #1 in sales growth in the company and #1 in new sign-ups in the company. The success was limited to the fact that I was not using other methods of marketing, I was not using the internet. The succes was based on my accumulated sales and marketing experiences and my ability to share, train and motivate people in the art of sales and relationship building. With that knowledge alone I saw a lot of people, with no prior selling or presentation skills, became top leaders in the organization by learning sales and going over the fear of public speaking.
Sadly, by the end of 2003 the business came to an end due to unfortunate decisions from the one of the company's executive. Even after the replacement of the executive, the company was not able to be what they used to be in Puerto Rico and USA.
So with new experiences on how to have success with the tradidional way, I decided in 2004 to start learning all I can about IM and the new ways of doing MLM using new methods.
Last year I got involved in a new project and we are about to release it soon. I will be updating this section with new ideas with hopes to be of benefit to all. One taste of preview is that I will be helping interested networkes, with or without primary business, with marketing tips to tap into the uprising latin market.
I am new in this site, but I hope to be of assistance to you. I will soon start posting on my blog, forums and will create a group to support your latin marketing ideas.
I will "see you" around.
