About 5 months ago in April 2009, the consumer electronics company that I was working for announced;
THEY would 'retire' 34,000 people and be liquidating 650 stores nationwide within 60days. Of course, the company's president still took his 1.7 million dollar bonus before leaving earlier that year. My Income... GONE! My 401k...GONE! My Bonus and Health Benefits...GONE!
I remember that day very well.... it was the beginning of my new journey to financial independence. You see, after 15 years of experience dealing with customers in commodities, insurance, and retail products, I found myself with a wealth of experience and no where to use it. I found myself over- qualified for most jobs and under-employed in regards to the security of a company that is not here today and GONE tomorrow.... a familiar tale for millions of people worldwide.
A few weeks after all this happened while I was clearing out my store, saying goodbye to my longtime customers and stunned co-workers THIS thought occurred to me; I CAN do better than this for myself and I deserve to work hard and NOT see everything I work for go down the drain. So, using my laptop, I began to investigate the possibility of earning money online.
