About Me
Some Igloo-Dweller Turned to World Traveler
Yo, great to connect with you here on BetterNetworker. I am the creator of MLM Strategies by Greg the Writer.
My story is probably not too different from your own, with some added chapters involved. I was born in the cold dark land of Alaska. I became a network marketer when I was 18 and failed forward for two years. Unlike many, I sponsored people in the old fashion ways but hated it. All my friends for the msot part had no real need
Look, I'm going tell you exactly how I generated 137 leads for my business with just 10 minutes of work. I'm going tell you how you can sponsor and attract more people to you in a day then you could in months doing things the traditional way, with those old-time struggles so many networkers face from their prospects.
In fact... I never really get any rejections... ever...
How Nike Killed My Hopes in Network Marketing
I said our story was probably similar. So let's compare.(You can find out more about me at my blog on MLM strategies.) My father was the one who sponsored me into network marketing. At the ripe age of 18 I was working in the cold harsh winds of the Alaskan arctic circle in the oil fields. He called me while I was up there, I literally had to force him to give me the website of the company.
Though my father had been in sales for most of his life, owned his own real estate firm and a multimillionaire in his own right... he still didn't believe in MLM. He was just trying to save me from starting an espresso stand.
Now, I never even had heard of this idea of network marketing! I didn't even know what Amway was, the very Walmart of the industry!
I got involved and got started, my dad got out of it immediately. So I went further upline till I found a leader that was successful in the company. I tried to figure out what he was doing. Because I was failing bad. All my friends & family thought of me as a joker, or as a writer, not as a business-savvy individual who knows what he is talking about.
I had know attraction going on at all. So what happened?
Well this successful upline of mine everytime we'd sit down in a restaurant and I would try to pick his brain... he would take out a piece of paper from his notebook and say, "Greg, check this. This is my favorite company." He would draw a swoosh symbol and say, "It's Nike. You know what there motto is?"
In response, as if it could be the holy grail, I'd say, "What?"
"Just do it."
Just do it.
Freakin' amazing. Thanks. Do what?!
For a while this mantra of Just Do It was like my worst nightmare. Because I wanted to do it, I'd love to have done it 24/7 if I could. The problem was as said before... I had no idea what to do.
Suffice to say, I soon hated Nike.
The Journey Began with Networking, Ended in Fish Bowls
I decided there had to be another way. So I joined the Chamber of Commerce, BNI, and other networking groups to try and meet new people of influence. I'd go to these events in my beatup van, and my one suit and try to teach people how to be rich. Still nothing. No one would even touch the stuff I was selling.
I even start driving around town with these glass bowls. They were fish bowls. I had put a little survey related to my product and I was cold canvass all the restaurants in my area. Seeing if they would let me put a fish a bowl on their counter. Almost none of them would. Thinking I was just some strange kid. Finally one restaurant allowed me to do it.
A couple weeks later I returned to see who the lucky winner was going to be of the free meal I was giving away as a prize. I looked at the fish bowl full of the green prospect cards. I was excited... things were finally going be different! I could generate my own leads! This was it! Instant downline... here I come...
I called those thirty or so leads on those green survey cards. Almost all of them had no clue what it was they had filled out. Barely any of them even remembered the restaurant they were in whent hey had submitted the card. Over half of the cards didn't even have a phone number on it, some of them even tried to make fun of the whole idea writing crude thigns on their card.
Suffice to say, my enthusiasm and love for my one producing fish bowl took a quick dive.
Then Someone Invited Me to a Social Network that Kicked Me in the Face
The director of my BNI group was talking to me one day. It turned out he was an old Amway hero. He had been huge in the business, having created a downline in sixi different countries. For whatever reason he got out of the business and into doing his own thing. Telling him these problems I was having, he told me I should look into social networking. I said sure, whaddya got?
He invited me to a social network called Ecademy. Kind of a UK-oriented LinkedIn. I checked it out and when I was building my profile, they had some called SEO. No idea what that was at a time, or how it would have such an impact on my business. They told me to enter in keywords that were related to my business. Obviously I decided to enter things like "network marketing".
But I wanted even better keywords!
So I looked towards good ol' Google Keyword tool for ones they would suggest to me. I thought I was some hot stuff using this internet technology... when one word came up that stuck out like a thorn... Magnetic Sponsoring.
I put it into my Ecademy profile, but then I decided I should really know what this Magnetic Sponsoring business was all about. A quick Google search led me across the bridge that made me realized the biggest mistake of all.
I was a Troll Covered in Warts Rather than a Knight in Shining Armor
I bought Magnetic Sponsoring after 24 hours of pure study (Quite literally.) It was the best forty-dollars I've ever spent, and I've bought much more since from Mike Dillard's company. You see it wasn't that my warm market didn't work, or that networking groups liked BNI can't produce big... it was simply I wasn't very attractive to people.
You see you can produce 134 leads in 10 minutes of work if you know what you're doing. If you have an attractive offer. If you are an attractive person. So how do you become an attractive perosn? Well there is tons of ways to do it. They all involve being able to add value back to the industry, back to your target market.
Your target market for the most part are the business-minded people that are looking for opportunity. Other network marketers, realtors, sales-minded people who understand profits are better than wages. Well once you know that, you can start building value to those people. Make yourself a leader to them.
You do this by developing skills, and strategies. Which you can do in tons of different ways. Honestly I would recommend MLM Traffic Formula 2, which you can read my review here on, if you want to be super successful and develop the skills that attract prospects to you.
Because you see once you get this, you can attract people to you. You will never have to chase down business again. They will chase you down. Sure you still got to do the work. But you'll never again have to cold call people like how I did right out of the Yellow Pages. You'll never have to bother Uncle Tom who could care less about your opportunity again.
Now I'm not saying warm market doesn't work, entire businesses have been built using warm market. I am saying however... you can become so skilled and attractive that an endless supply of leads and prospects will literally raise their hands wanting to talk to you.
That is the power of attraction marketing. And that is exactly what has happened to me.
I went from warty troll to the knight in shining armor.
More Leads, Reps and Cashflow Coming Down Like a Waterfall
Once I had all this knowledge and had built my skill, I learned the next valuable step in my transformation. It was finding a way to duplicate this type of leadership in my downline I now had trouble with. I could produce, but they couldn't. Again I sought out answers to my issues. That is when I found it.
You see once you know attraction marketing, you want a system that specializes in attraction markting. When you have a system that all it does is teach your downline how to market and give them the tools they need for success... well you're starting to really write your own check at that point.
I found the internet marketer's dream when it comes to attraction marketing systems. You can find my system here. Now I can fully embrace the attraction marketing model. Attracting leads to my business daily and being able to make money off of them even if they never join my actual opportunity.
The best thing is about using a system now is my entire downline gets trained. I am able to leverage my time more efficiently, and my downline gets effective training that works so they can produce their own leads and create their own success in network marketing.
I have turned the water-on and it is spraying like a waterfall.
Questions, Comments, Say What's Up
