Happy is the man who finds wisdom and understanding for the gain from it is better than gain from silver and profit better than gold. ~Proverbs 3:13,14 Accept the things to which fate binds you, and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart. ~Marcus Aurelius I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace. ~Dalai Lama No man ever achieved worth-while success who did not, at one time or other, find himself with at least one foot hanging well over the brink of failure. ~ Napoleon Hill

About Me
Spending your life making someone else rich is not the way to ever become financially independent. Just like millions of Americans, I allowed myself to believe the ‘American Dream’ was to work a go-nowhere 9-5 J-O-B and work for someone else. I spent 20 years working myself to death for companies who, when push came to shove, decided their bottom line was more important than my financial stability. So, BANG…I’m ‘downsized’.
Not that it was a bad thing…quite the contrary. I believe it is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
People say ‘God puts people in your path just when you need them the most’ and I believe that is the truth, don’t you? After I found out I was on the ‘cut-list’ I did what everyone else does. I updated my resume, posted it on the internet, on the same job sites as millions of other people, and guess what…I got NUTHIN. There ARE no jobs out there and I don’t envision a plethora of good paying jobs appearing in the foreseeable future. I also went to those job fairs where you and hundreds of others mill about hoping your future will materialize at one of those employer/vendor booths. Well mine actually did…in a way.
I was wandering about, resume’s in hand, when I saw a table with a sign that said “Leadership Opportunities”. I thought to myself…”Hey! I’m a leader and have been my whole life”, so, I walked up to the two ladies standing there and asked them what KIND of leadership opportunities did they have? The response was “Mary Kay leadership, as an Independent Beauty Consultant.” Me, being the skeptic that I am said, “Mary Kay? What does Mary Kay have to offer by way of leadership?” And I thought, but didn’t say “They peddle lipstick after-all”.
It was explained to me that there are really two avenues of income with Mary Kay. One, the traditional method everyone knows about…selling skin care and cosmetics. The second way is to find hard working, dedicated people to start their Mary Kay Independent Consulting business and teach them how to be successful.
Now, I DID attempt to sell Mary Kay about 15 years ago when my children were young but, I did not have any support. So, I quit (which is a very rare occurrence for me). Needless to say, when she was telling me about Mary Kay, I was quite leery. After talking about my work history for a bit, she invited me to come to a meeting and listen to the opportunity to see if it was, in fact, what I was looking for. So, I did, with absolutely no intention of starting my business again.
Trying to keep an open mind, I sat there and listened to several women speak. They were all dressed in lovely blue suits and were wearing diamonds galore. I was astounded at what I heard. These women, truly happy women, had made themselves and their families independently wealthy…paying for colleges and cars with cash. Unbelievable! I think to myself. I have what they have…I have determination, drive and a commitment to myself and my family to find a way to become financially secure. However, not being one to make hasty decisions, I went home to think.
My husband, God bless him, was immediately supportive of the idea of me becoming an Independent Beauty Consultant. So, I called and said I’ll do it, and I wrote my check for my starters kit.
It has been a very exciting time for me. I’ve surrounded myself with truly happy and successful people who want to help me become as successful as they are. Now, I know, it benefits them if I do well, but so what? If it helps me and it helps them, everyone wins right?
I am committed to growing my Mary Kay Independent Consulting business and encourage anyone (men and women) who want financial independence and security to contact me, and come to a meeting and hear what these women have to say. (We do have very successful men in the organization as well).
I am so thankful that God put my MK Independent Sales Director and this opportunity in my path. It never hurts to listen or to keep an open mind. You never know what you may find.
