About Me
I was born and raised in the island nation of Singapore. Grew up in a poultry farm with tens of thousands of chickens and ducks. There were also hogs and crocodiles for “utility” purposes to recycle waste products from our processing plant operations and our hatchery operations. Check out other blog posts on some of my more interesting experiences at the farm.
The initial third of my education was pretty a much a local adaptation of the British system, since Singapore was a British colony until 1965. My first technical degree was from the Singapore Polytechnic in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. I enlisted in the Singapore Armed Forces Officer School right after college and served as an officer at a battalion logistics division.
I met Jackie while at college and we got married 3 months before I finished up my military obligations. After my military stint, I furthered my studies in the United States and graduated with two additional degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and another in Computer Science. By then, I have 2 children, San San and Daniel and it was time to take on the professional world.
I spent 17 years in the high tech industry of disk drive design and manufacturing, advancing from an engineer to development program manager to director sales and marketing overseeing Europe, the States and Japan. In the earlier phase of that wild and exciting time, my family expanded with the addition of Christina and I graduated from Pepperdine University with an MBA in International Business.
The entrepreneurial spirit got the better of me and I ventured into real estate brokerage and investments. Spent the last 10 years riding some of the most significant ups and downs of the real estate industry. Learn some valuable lessons as business owner and entrepreneur.
Times like these are great to venture into new opportunities. The world is changing rapidly with technology and the internet opening up new avenues to do business. With all three children out of the home and into their own work world, it’s prime time for Jackie and I to take on some exciting new challenges. We are still a wee bit too young to retire. Marketing, my core expertise and traveling seems to be where I am spending most of my time.
