Ian King

I was born in Toowoomba and was brought up on a farm near a small country town called Bell. I was educated at two different boarding schools, one in Toowoomba and the other in Southport, then I did a Diploma in Animal Husbandry at Gatton College,  Being married in 1968 I continued on the farm where I was brought up and managed it until 1980. Then my wife and I moved to Highfields where I did  a number of jobs, eventually running an Old Fashion Rose Nursery until 1994.  I lost my wife to cancer, in 1995 and closed the nursery down.  I have lived in Toowoomba where I presently live since 1999, and have been involved ina Charitable Organisation which I helped create helping people out of work to change their lives to get back into work.  We as an organisation are totally reliant on government grants, but manage to get 75% of our customers back into the work force. I am presently on a number of committees and work in church related groups to help train people to become leaders in their church, and another one where we are helping to change the destiny of the Island of Madagascar, by helping set up education among the poorest people on the island. I have changed my direction, in that I am setting up a Telco with afriend which will enable charities to raise funds from their supporters telephone bill with out the supporter having to increase his budget other than pay his bill.
