About Me
I had very humble beginnings to say the least. I thought "NO" was a name brand. It wasn't that my parents were uptight A-holes, we just couldn't afford much else other than the necessities, if that. So at a young age I knew I wanted to be in control of my income.
I took on several different ventures as an IBO. I had the most success as an advisor with Primerica Finacial Services and as a sales rep for Vector Marketing but I still wanted something that I could call my own and have complete control over. I started my very first business the summer after senior year of high school going into my freshman year of college (S.A.B. Merchandising) Which was a catolog/internet retail company in which I used catolog distribution to drive traffic to my company website to produce sales in my local area. I had spent close to $4,000 for a web design company to create a websit for me and had a catolog circulation of about 2,500 catologs distributed per month for the 2 years that I ran the business from home.
Realizing first hand that owning my own business was not only dificult but fairly expensive and time consuming, I had to shut down opperations. Due to the fact that I was spending between $800-$1,500 per month for my catolog circulation with little to no profits and my steadily declining grades in school, I had to pause, re-think and re-vamp my entire business model. Did I mention at the time that I knew NOTHING about Internet Marketing? Oh, because at the time I knew NOTHING about Internet Marketing.
Like an idiot I began researching ways to promote my business online a little too late for it to have any significant effect on my business. The business was shut down before I had even considered promoting it online rather than offline with catologs. Dumb move...yea I know!! But the upside is that that was when I discovered Internet Marketing and the industry that I have grown to love, Network Marketing.
So in mid 2007 and against most of my friend's and family's best recommendations, I got involved with my first business opportunity and like EVERYONE else I failed miserably for about a whole year.. Or so I thought! You see I didnt have anything to compare my results to and because I wasn't making $30,000 a month like my upline and like the opportunity said I would, I took all my results as failing efforts.
I was spending more money that I didn't have on useless, used up, watered down leads. I was cold calling everyone and their mother. No seriously!! I remember making a call to a lead and his mother picked up the phone because he was out, so I waisted 20 minutes trying to recruit the guys mother into my business. Yea, I know I know..another bad move!! But these were the things that I was taught to do and all my upline could say was "You're doing a great job Seth. Keep doing what you're doing like I told you and things will start to ramp up"
Does that sound familiar to anyone at all?
But like I mentioned earlier, "I failed miserably for about a whole year. Or so I thought.". Later on during my second year in this industry when I started actually networking with real people, I realized that some of the results I was getting wasn't actually the absolute worst in Network Marketing History. Like the fact that I was getting about 3-5 leads a day compared to others who were struggling just to get 1. Or the fact that I was getting a decent amout of responses from prospects wanting to know more about me and what I do. If I hadn't followed the company mantra of " Never Having to Speak To A Single Person", maybe I would have actually spoke to these people and closed more sales earlier on in this industry, but the point is that even though I was "failing" I realized the true bennifits of failing.
See, when you fail, you are gaining extreme amounts of knowledge on what NOT to do in this industry and this is HIGLY saught after valuable information that MOST people in our industy need and want to know. So from this self revelation I then at that moment knew that I had value to offer and still more to gain and that it would be the foundation of which I built my success upon.
My business took a complete turn for the better and I continue to share every little bit of knowledge that I obtain with anyone who truely desires to empower themselves and succeed in this indusrty. However I am FAR from all knowing when it comes to Network Marketing. I pride myself on being a servant leader and a student teacher. Yea I know! Those are oximorons I just said, but what I mean is that I am focused on serving my growing organization by continuously improving myself and studying those more successfull than me so I can teach that knowledge to my team.
The only way to help myself is to FIRST help others....This industry exemplifies Karma at its best. I love it!!
