Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian organization that builds simple, decent homes for families in need on a no-profit, no-interest basis - giving them a hand up, not a hand-out. Habitat for Humanity is now working in over 84 countries around the world and has built over 200,000 homes since its inception - every 10 minutes a new house is being built by Habitat somewhere in the world.

Habitat for Humanity South East Queensland Association Inc was officially incorporated in June 2001 and its members are currently raising funds to commence building on the Gold Coast and in Logan City. Jairo became the Multicultural Liaison Officer and deals with the different ethnic communities.

The Hispanic members organized a Lambada Festival and included presentations from Latin American musicians, singers and latino cuisine to raise funds for Habitat. This event has become a yearly event and raises fund for this much needed cause. www.habitat.org.au
