Joseph B. Tillman

Hi, my name is Joe Tillman. My wife (Joyce) and I started IHS & Associates. More on the company later.

I was born in Washington D.C. but I was raised in Detroit, Michigan. After attending and graduating from school with a degree in Computer Programming I was one of the unfortunate ones that did not land a job in my chosen field.
 
 

Then life and children…

I got married to the most beautiful woman in the world and had 2 daughters.

During this period of my life I was able to land a decent job with one of the local utility companies as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Of course you know the rest, mediocre pay, a lot of travel, and a lot of nerve racking job demands. These were the good points. The down side of course was the fact that I had to constantly find fault with all of the manufacturers that I was responsible for. I had to find something wrong no matter what! My life was totally backwards. My focus was more on negative things rather than the positive. That attitude began to carry over to my home life and I began to not like me very much. I was so good at my job/profession that I reached the top of my pay grade in half the time that it took other inspectors.   But then I was faced with the ultimate question – do I stay with the company with the only raises being cost of living raises for the next 20 years or find another job that paid as well.
 
 

Then there were none…

 I decided to end my inspection job at the utility company and seek employment elsewhere. It seemed that the jobs that I was qualified to do had disappeared or were being outsourced to smaller companies for a lot less money and benefits. In other words no jobs were there for me.

Along Comes Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) …

 I took a look at several MLM opportunities but all of them seemed to just use people. You know what I mean, make the proverbial list of friends, family and associates, contact the people to show them your business and ask for referrals. 

 All of the opportunities that I looked at never seemed to train you on how to interact with people or how to retain the individuals that you bring into the business (sponsor) with you. Needless to say, I sponsored a few people and within 3 to 4 months or less, they were gone. I was never taught that MLM is a people business. You must get to know, understand and nurture people. Heck I was never taught that life itself is a people business. As I stated before; my life had been totally backwards. I had been taught how to make money and not how to build relationships. Multi-Level Marketing has taught me how to build relationships and help people succeed.
 
 

IHS and Associates…

 In 2003 Joyce and I decided to form a company, IHS & Associates to assist others.

 The main focus of our company is to encourage and mentor others in the Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or Direct Marketing (DM) businesses of their choice. Our focus also includes helping others to attract new clients to their business and retention of their current clients.
 
I joined the Better Networker community and have discovered the attraction marketing principles that were missing from our marketing strategies.   Joyce and I are now working with people that are making money and are enjoying life!
