About Me
They call themselves Push the Fish, and they’ve christened their unique blend of music and spoken-word humor “Comedy music for the restaurant industry.”
In 2007, Curtis started writing songs hoping to turn those restaurant negatives into positives.
Their lyrics are sometimes raw and sarcastic, sometimes dry, sometimes straight up serious, and most of the time funny, but they’re always true tales about what waiters endure on the job.
Josie and Curtis have worked for years in restaurants–they want to use what they’ve learned both to entertain their server brothers and sisters and to educate restaurant-goers. If you’re imagining what that would sound like, Curtis and Josie say “If 'Weird Al' Yankovic and the guys from SNL all waited tables, and then got together and made an album about it, this would be it.”
Their late night talks led Josie and Curtis to go from being tired of how things “just are” in the industry to “What can we do to help change things?” Curtis’ musician brain cooked up a theme album that was meant to be listened to by servers to relate and laugh about their experiences, but Josie says the idea quickly boiled over to include the public in an effort to change the game in the world’s restaurants.
That “game” they want to change is this: “We work hard to give you great service, and we put with a LOT,” so please remember diners, “20% is the standard for great service.”
Otherwise, you might find yourself mentioned in a Push the Fish song!
