My name is LINA DOUGLAS, I am a Professional Accountant. My designation is CMA which stands for Certified Management Accountant. What differentiates us form the other designations is that we actually want to know about your business outside of preparing your Financial Statements.

I always marvel over an event in your life that change your path which was what happened to me in 1976. I was living in Montreal and as you know that was the year when we had the Summer Olympic Games, I worked as an International Operator and I realized that the rest of the world spoke English.

Therefore I decided to enrol to McGill University not speaking a word of English and graduated in 1979 with a Business degree and completed my Accounting designation a couple years later.

In the first part of my career, I was involved in the Corporate world and worked for companies you may recognize such as Hudson’s Bay, Gillette, Northern Telecom, Annacis Auto Terminal and Island Paper Mills to name a few.

When we moved to BC, the second life-changing event happened; it was the birth of our lovely daughter, Kristin. That was when I needed to make a decision, as much as I liked the Corporate world and had worked really hard to get to the Director of Finance level, there were 2 choices at that point in my life, continue in the corporate world and get a nanny to raise our daughter or rearrange my priorities and change my career path.

As you probably guessed, I chose to rearrange my career path and became a Self-employed Entrepreneur with a Home-based business and have never looked back. The flexibility alone has made it totally worth it for me and my daughter. And professionally, I am now running a very successful private practice from the comfort of my home

My passion has always been to help other entrepreneurs understand taxes, I specialize in Small Business and Home-based Businesses and have been able to help thousand of entrepreneurs and want to help thousand more.
