I have learned that our thoughts embedded with emotion have tremendous power. Our thoughts attract the things in our thoughts to us. We get what we believe in, what we think about. If we consciously instruct ourselves to think of and believe in a supreme power who created the universe that is all around us and inside us, have created us for peace, harmony, grace, wealth, health, happiness, and freedom, then our subconscious mind will do the work to bring the circumstances, people, and events into our life, and orient our efforts toward wealth, health, happiness, and freedom. The contrary works the same way. If you think and believe that you can not achieve, then you won't.
