Marenda Taylor

Hello, my name is Marenda Taylor and I am the creator and author of www.WorkWithMarenda.com and the Living Life Abundantly Blog. If you are anything like me…you love the Internet and making money. I’ll explain a little about how I combined the 2 and changed my life but first let me tell you a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Sunny Southern California. After graduating from high school I was ready to spread my wings and fly to the east coast to attend Hampton University. My journey then led me to Atlanta, Georgia where I worked as a retail sales manager for Express, a call center customer service representative and a courier for FEDEX… that is where I met the Love of my life (my husband).

I would have to say that my life was pretty normal with one exception…I was always sick and I always had to work (retail management is a demanding job and just as physical as being a courier).

I had no control over my time. My boss made the schedule and I was expected to adhere, sick or not. I worked holidays, weekends, overtime, double time…you name it. Work ruled my life. My job determined the who, what, when, where, why, and how of my life. And for the times that I was sick I was usually worried about work. When you are sick you miss a lot of work… (bosses don’t like that) We all know that missing a lot of work means you might not have a job for long!

If you were to talk to any of my previous bosses I am 100% certain they would all tell you that I was an outstanding employee and hard worker…but they would all also say that there were times that I missed work for medical reasons (I always had documentation from my doctors).

To make a long story short and to assure you that I’m no slacker, I was diagnosed with Systemic Sarcoidosis in 1997. Its one of those ailments that can go in and out of remission with or without notice at any time. The medications were all experimental and just seemed to make me worse than I was without it. I learned that climate was a factor (in Atlanta especially during the fall and winter I would always get really sick). In California not nearly as much. We left Atlanta and moved to the west coast…it was back to Sunny California for me :) Where I went back to retail sales management with a few odd jobs here and there. But I still had to cope with my job dictating my life and the anxiety that came with missing work periodically. You know most jobs don’t offer a whole lot of sick time and once its gone its disability, FMLA, and/or bye bye job. If you’ve ever struggled with being sick or have had to miss work to take care of your parents or your kids, you understand.

This all presented a major problem for me because I had no control. My everyday life was determined by my job and my job was affected by the days I had no choice but to miss work. In my very last retail sales management position my doctor put me on disability…when I returned to work I was informed that I was being laid off.

I was hurt and angry. If you know anything about retail you know its hard work especially during the holidays. The hours suck, so does your schedule, and as a manager you’re expected to part the Red Sea if and when necessary. There were many days that I spent 16 hours+ in my store going above and beyond the call of duty (which is probably what attributed to me getting sick in the first place).

So when I found out that I was being laid off I felt betrayed and I made up my mind right then and there to find a way to be my own boss! I began to realize that being laid off was a blessing in disguise.

* When you are your own boss you make your own schedule and no one can lay you off.
* When you are your own boss you determine how much you’ll get paid.
* When you are your own boss if you get sick you don’t have to worry if your job will still be waiting for you when you get better.

My journey to become my own boss began in 2004. I tried all of the work from home systems and joined different programs. I wasted a lot of time and money buying leads, cold calling, and not getting any where. I realized that I needed to learn how to market online and so I started my first blog and began learning the principles and techniques of Internet Marketing. I had become so good at it people started hiring me to develop websites and take care of their Internet Marketing. Then early this year I was invited to explore Network Marketing. Using everything that I’d learned about Internet Marketing I was able to sponsor 39 reps. I knew I had a winner.
Today I Am My Own Boss

I am part of a business, a team, and system that will help you achieve your dreams, become your own boss, and live the life you deserve.

I have time to do everything I want to do and more. And thanks to my business MY health has improved. I never have to worry about missing work or missing a pay check. My husband and I couldn’t be happier :)

Now I want to share with people that want to take back their lives and Be Their Own Boss too.

Please be advised that I am not interested in just filling my organization with “bodies”. Unlike most, I will not work with just anybody. I am interested in working with people with very specific characteristics, and these characteristics MAY or MAY NOT describe you.
