About Me
Yes, it's true: so far as the network market business goes, I'm a slow learner. I'm in my early 50's and only just recently have come to the realization that the corporate world is never going to give me or my family the security we're looking for. So now I'm making some changes in my life by building an online business. Mike Dillard is my primary source of inspiration on this front, but the more I dig around on the net, the more I learn about just how many people are floundering around trying to make an online business work.
I've been a programmer/analyst since 1981, only started dipping my toes into learning about HTML and PHP and Javascript and AJAX and such in the last 6 or 7 years. I served as a volunteer programmer and forum moderator on a now-defunct political chat forum, which is where I got my initial exposure to PHP and MySQL and concepts of basic database administration and how forum software works.
I've done some minor custom web programming for a few websites, and decided (after mulling over Mike Dillard's Magnetic Sponsoring concepts) that it was about time I put up my own blog, which is www.homebiz-tech-help.com. I just put together my first couple of articles on the basics of picking domain names, web services providers and setting up a Wordpress website there in the last week, and I imagine I'm going to be spending a fair amount of my time in the near future writing articles and building up a base of content so that the site will actually be worth looking at.
If you're looking to build your own web site but are feeling overwhelmed by the web technical stuff, while I don't consider myself to be the Erwin Corey ("the world's foremost authority") of web programming, I feel confident enough that I can tackle a fair number of website-related challenges, so at the tech-help site, we can try to figure things out together and see what works and what doesn't. Odds are you know more than I do on a lot of web topics, so feel free to put in your own two cents, or to fill in the gaps I'll be sure to leave.
I'm glad I found this site. I'll do what I can to become a helpful contributor here.
