My name is Mark Mendonca and I am an entrepreneur. I reside in Providence, RI and am an owner and founder of Attract2Market.com. I am 34 years old and have had a multitude of different business experiences which have brought me to where I am today.
My first exposure to the home based business arena took place in 1996 when I was only 18 years old and still in high school. After working with several different companies, on and off over the years, with varying amounts of success, I had taken a sabbatical from the turbulent world of home based businesses for a very lucrative position selling building materials for a regional distributor. It was here that I acquired the mindset skills necessary to make it as an entrepreneur.
Life was good!! People were building and remodeling houses faster than I could supply the materials they needed and the income stream seemed like it had no end in sight. I worked long, hard hours and was rewarded greatly. I loved my job, my job loved me. I set company sales and income records and became the regional training manager while maintaining my current accounts. I learned that I loved training and working with people and watching them succeed.
Then the day came. The banking markets came crashing down, the lenders stopped lending , builders stopped building, remodelers stopped remodeling and overnight my income dropped by 75%. As a company we cut down to a bare bones staff and I watched the people that had become my family drop off one by one. Let me tell you what kind of scary that situation was.
After a few months I was emotionally, financially and physically drained and the job that I so loved just a few months before, I DREADED. So I quit. After some stops in a few other industries out of necessity, I still was searching for a good fit. Somehow, I ended up in the nightlife and went from doing marketing and promotion for bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to owning a bar very quickly. THE DREAM. I have arrived!!!
However, owning a brick and mortar cash business, is not all it’s cracked up to be. Employees, taxes, city and state regulators, unscrupulous competition all can severely cut into the bottom line if not kept in proper check. How do you keep all of that in check, you may ask? Simple, work 20 hours a day, 7 days a week. The money is great but don’t fool yourself into thinking that you actually OWN anything. It OWNS you! I will tell you though, you do learn work ethic like no one else.
Haha…….now here’s where it gets fun.
In October 2010, I was introduced back into network marketing and direct sales by a contact that I had made in a previous venture. The company that I looked at promised us the moon and the stars, and I bit. This company featured a telecommunications product that I was SO excited about and it all made sense to me. I thought back on all of the experiences that I had gone through in the last decade, all of the ups the downs, all of the lessons that I had been forced to learn. I said to myself “Mark, you are absolutely ready, you are going to completely blow this of the water”.
And you know what, IDID…………….
I completely blew it out of the water, my warm market, that is, which was very large (after all I am a business owner, right?). Oh, don’t get me wrong, I followed the system, introduced, edified, followed up, three-wayed, closed, trained, taught, I did it all and it worked!!!!! However, the said company was NEVER able to deliver the product that they promised and it all came crashing down.
Pick myself up and dust myself off………….
Now I am completely obsessed with the fact that this is what I am meant to do. I just have to find the RIGHT company, with the RIGHT comp plan, with the RIGHT product. Ever hear that saying “ Two wrongs, don’t make a right”? Guess what? Three rights, don’t make a right either. But what I did learn is, that it doesn’t matter what you are selling or how good the comp plan is. It all boils down to three things, marketing, systems, and leadership.
MARKETING, SYSTEMS, AND LEADERSHIP, that’s all?
So our journey together begins here. Our journey toward financial freedom, self-fulfillment, purpose, and the time to enjoy all of it. In this blog I’m going to tell you what I am doing, why I am doing it, who I am learning it from, and what kind of results I am getting, but in the section “The Diary of a Future 7 Figure Marketer” I am going to take you on the minute by minute journey of discovery through the very beginnings of putting together the marketing and the systems that are proving to be the future of the industry. We are going to explore some cutting edge technologies that have been discovered and catalogued by the best in the business. I’m going to share with you the good, the bad, and the ugly of what is going on out there.
