Michael Robinson

Greetings fellow networkers.  My name is Michael Robinson and I'm pleased to be a part of Betternetworkers.com.  I'm also pleased to make your acquaintances.  I've been married to my dear wife Debra for 33 years.  I have two grown children, Michael and Michelle.  I also have a wonderful and very bright grandson, Dylan, with whom I enjoy spending my free time teaching about technological stuff.

It seems like I've spent my entire life involved with technology.  I have been working in the electrical and electronics industries for nearly 40 years.  I've been involved with Amateur Radio (HAM radio) for nearly 25 years.  Recently, I developed an interest in wind energy technology and have been working on a wind turbine generator for use at my home.  It made sense to me to get involved with companies involved in technologically advanced products after my retirement.  So, I've become involved with companies that deal with the technology required to provide savings on electricity usage while providing electrical surge protection for the entire home.  I have also become involved with a company that provides technologically advanced methods of improving indoor air quality.

In our efforts to make our homes more energy efficient, we overlook the downside of our actions.  We close up our homes, making them as air-tight as possible to save on heating and air-conditoning.  But, in so doing, we trap contaminants, dust and dust mites that affect our general health.  It is estimated that the indoor air of our homes is up to 5 times as polluted as the outdoor environment.  We also overlook the simple fixes for saving money on lectricity.  We buy "energy saving" light bulbs and Energy Star rated appliances, but those devices still allow energy waste by not dealing with the "power factor" effect of those devices that contain motors and transformers to operate.
