I live in a place called Mount Maunganui. It is a beach resort town on New Zealand's east coast. Starting from Mount Maunganui, miles and miles of golden white sandy beaches stretch as far as the eye can see to the east, and is one of the best beach holiday locations in all of New Zealand. People invest millions of dollars into property here just to own their little slice of paradise.
 
Mount Maunganui affectionately referred to as "The Mount" gets it's name from the extinct volcanic cone known to the Maori people as "Mauao" Over time it has been joined to the mainland by a narrow isthmus of sand which now forms the town of Mount Maunganui. Mauao proudly guards the entrance to Tauranga harbour and the busiest shipping port in New Zealand.
 
I own two successful accommodation businesses and a Specialist Office Machine engineering and consultancy business. Our Motel won the award for the Supreme Host of the Year for two years running (We’re not allowed to enter anymore). The other accommodation business is a Serviced Apartment business, a strange cross between a hotel and a motel. Sometimes we refer to it as a Hotel of Apartments.
 
Over the years I have learned the techniques of attraction marketing in the accommodation industry. It is very competitive and in this country, people "vote with their feet" That of course means that if they don't like what you have offer, they walk away and go somewhere else.

 
The key thing to learn is this: GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY WANT, NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO SELL THEM. You may have heard this dozens of times but it is always true! The accommodation business is a classic example to see it in action, guests walk in to your property and if they don't like you, they walk out. My properties are positioned at each end of our target market. The motel is 40 years old, and old-fashioned in a resort town with dozens of new up-market properties on offer. I won the award for the best Motel in the country not because I owned the best building, but I provided the best experience and service.
 
The Serviced Apartments  are a 5-Star property positioned at the top end of the market but the same principles apply. If guests do not like me then it doesn't matter how good the building is, they will not come back.
 
I am married to Vickie and we have 5 children between us. Thank goodness there are only 2 living at home. The Eldest, Matthew is a Pilot First Officer flying Boeing 777’s for Air India, Nicola is married, Kirsty is a Beauty Therapist, and Sam is still at school. My other son, Nigel, is severely mentally and physically disabled requiring 24 hour care. He has the mental capacity of a two year old, is blind, incontinent and can not walk or talk. He is not able to feed himself or wash or anything so at 19 years old can be quite a handful.

 
 I am here to network, meet interesting people and make new friends. I want to learn from experienced network marketers who know what they’re doing without putting up with the nonsense of tired old sales pitches, squeeze pages, boot camps, easy money and get rich quick scams. Like many others I have been burned by unscrupulous sales people with dodgy websites and even dodgier products.

 
From The Beginning Then
 
I was born and raised in a small isolated rural community, my parents were dairy farmers. Our community was very close-knit where everybody knew everybody else and the school only had 50 kids. I graduated as a Civil Engineer in the early eighties and built power transmission lines for the Government.
 
Dairy farming in New Zealand during the early 80’s was a dream come true. NZ was and still is one of the largest dairy exporting nations in the world and returns kept increasing year after year. I purchased the farm from my family and was worth $1 million by the time I was 30. The inevitable crash happened in 1984 and after struggling for a further 15 years, my wife left me, I had to sell the farm and I was broke.
 
I had 3 children to care for including the disabled one and I was miserable. I tried and failed in some business dealings with what little money I could muster, but nothing worked. A very good friend visited me during one of my dark days, and over a bottle of very nice port we reminisced about our young days. I asked about a girl we both knew and what had happened to her. It turned out that he had called in to see her only a few weeks previously. She had been diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer and was having surgery followed by intensive Chemotherapy.

As usual I did nothing, but after about 3 months and finding myself miserable and alone again I suddenly got in my car and started driving. I drove to the city where Vickie lived, found her, and a year later we were married.

Back To The Future
 
Many people involved in network marketing seem to have either battled with it for a number of years or come to it from an employee background looking to become an entrepreneur. I have been self-employed for most of my working life. I just never learned how to market. The dairy industry in New Zealand is a totally integrated business where the farmers are merely just the producers of the raw product. Effectively, they are just employees in the country’s biggest export company. After leaving that industry I learned a big lesson. Never put your fate in the hands of someone else.
 
I was down and out. Broke, divorced and unemployed. I helped my wife battle cancer, helped my son to become one of the youngest airline co-pilots in the world, helped my daughters through training then into careers, put 2 children through private schooling and care for my disabled son 24 hours a day. I crawled my way back to having my own businesses and employing 6 people. But the businesses did not do well, I kept taking on more and more just to service debt. It was a nightmare.
 
Everything changed though when I found someone online who just seemed to know what I was all about. He made videos so I could see him and he made me feel comfortable. Suddenly it all seemed OK, I found out that all I had to do was apply the principles of attraction marketing. The funny thing is that it works in any business where you have customers. Fuuny that!!!
 
 
Now I am a successful entrepreneur thanks to the magic of the internet and networking. If there is a secret to marketing it is this; Systems work where people fail.
 
The Online Business System teaches a business system that works. The system will provide quality leads which in turn provide sales with residual income that will keep working no matter what the global economic situation is.
