Since 5 years I have lived in New Zealand.
I met my partner while I was travelling with my mum. We stayed at his lodge a couple of times and Callum and I quite liked each other.
When my mam and I got back in Holland after 6 weeks of travelling, the travelling bug had caught me badly. I sold my house in Amsterdam, quit my job as a business consultant and travelled for a year all over Australia, New Zealand and a bit of Asia. During my travels I caught up with Callum several times and when the year was over we decided to stay together.
Now I have my own Internet Marketing Business. Besides running my internet business I help Callum in the lodge and look after our adorable 2 year old son Abel.
I have done a lot of Running since I have been in New Zealand. Running is beautiful over here, there are a lot of bushtracks and it never gets boring.
My favorite sport is Tennis. I played tennis since the age of 8. Unfortunately I don't have a sparringpartner where I live now (we live very remote at the foot of 3 volcanoes).
I also love to paint. Before Abel was born I painted quite a lot. At the moment I have my hands full with my 2 year old but I hope to pick it up again in the near future. Though, playdough is has been a good alternative so far.
When my partner and I both have a day off we love to go into the bush on the quad bike or the motor bike. We put little Abel in his backpack with a little helmet on, he loves it too. The bush here is absolutle amazingly green and varied. It is like riding through a fairy tale.

I live in a very remote area in New Zealand. It is extremely beautiful as we live at the foot of 3 active volcanoes with lots of native bush around.
But there is a downside as well. As with all remote areas there are not many jobs around and most of the jobs here are seasonal and very low paid.
Before I moved to New Zealand (I'm Dutch) I had a very good paying job. I used to work as a business consultant for IBM and several outsourcing companies. I didn't want to get back into the corporate world again. One of the reasons that I went travelling was to get away from the rat race. However, it was frustrating that the best job I could get out here was as a hotel receptionist for a boss who turned out being a complete bully. I lasted for a year and then decided to help my partner in his lodge. But you can understand that it is not ideal to have your partner as a boss either.
After Abel was born it was hard to work at all. Because there is no childcare around here I was the main person to look after Abel. Having my own internet business was the ideal solution for me. I've always wanted to be my own boss, to run my own business.
I like to be in full control of my own personal development, carreer and most of all income. I can work whenever I want and whenever I have half an hour spare, just from the comfort of my own home.
Running an online business is something that I can recommend to anyone. It is lots of fun and full of challenges, and I keep on learning every day. It is an absolute thrill to be my own boss and to have the financial freedom and time to do lots of fun stuff with my family.
