About Me
Hi, my name is Robbie Johnson and I am the creator of The Home Business Revolution Underground, goldandsilvercollector.com, and proud owner of Robbie’s Home Service. The reason I created this weblog is because I really hated my old job. I used to be a local truck driver, and like a lot of people, gone from home most of the day, 10 to 12 hours, away from family and beat tired by the time I got home. So I started my own home based business. It has given me more freedom than I could have possibly imagined! I love being my own boss and making money from home. But before I tell you about that let me tell you about who I am and how I got here.
//
The fact is I worked as a trucker for 12 years with a large company hauling just about evrything you could imagine. During those years I always wanted to do something more fulfilling, gave more time, more flexibility and that made more money, too. The pay was okay but even with overtime it seemed like there was always more month than money. I wanted to have more time for my family and for myself. Besides the long work day and long work weeks getting time off for family events and vacations was very difficult. All vacation time had to be scheduled in January and taken in one week blocks, plus any special days off during the week that I wanted. Forget about calling in sick. The last year I worked there Corporate blacked out entire weeks where no one could take a particular day or entire week off. That’s when I threw my hands up and said, “Hey, What’s the point !?!” If you can’t enjoy life and all that it has to offer, which for me was spending time with my family, what do you do? What did I do? I quit! Right now your saying, “You put up with that for 12 years?” Yeah! I did. But I did learn something. You won’t get far working for somebody else. After that, I found a job working in commercial construction. I hated that job so much, I almost went back to trucking! I won’t bother you with the details just cut and paste from above with a few twists. I was making less money with longer commutes. By now, the economy was tanking and my house was worth less, I couldn’t refinance, I was $60,000 dollars underwater because we were dooped into a bad loan like so many others plus $20,000 in credit card debt just to keep us going. I was buried in debt and a slave to my job.
A friend of mine approached me with a home business solution. He showed me how to make more in a few days than what I was making with a full time job. Almost immediately I was able to replace my previous income. But best of all, owning my own business has allowed me to set my own schedule. I get up and take the kids to school, we have conversations along the way. I don’t have to work everyday of the week, so we can take long weekends for camping. But it took me a while to get the hang of it and it was scary at first. Is it worth your time, effort and a little bit of money to get started right away in your own home based business?
If you are feeling like I was at any given moment, you have to say yes.
Business
My interest in small home based business started very early. It seemed many of the adults I knew, were self-employed. They had carpet cleaning businesses, landscaping businesses and janitorial businesses. One of my first jobs when I was sixteen was working for my friend cleaning carpets. He noticed right away that I was a hard worker. He paid me a generous wage per job, the faster I worked the more I was paid. In high school, I joined, DECA, a future business leaders association and took courses that I knew would help me in the future. I knew I would someday be an entrepreneur.
After a short stint working as a grocery clerk, I started my first business as a landscaper. This lasted for about 3 years then I sold the business to a friend. I wanted to find something more fulfilling. I tried, unsuccessfully, with a couple of network marketing companies. I had the dream instilled then but hadn't found the mentors and trainers that would show the way. In fact, my 1st company really worked hard on being unduplicatable. Later that year I bought a package of 3 business courses that cost me $1500 on my American Express. It was a real estate investment course that I really wanted to change my life. However, desire is only one piece of the equation for success. I was lacking two things in my life back then with all my experiments with business. I lacked discipline and confidence. With the landscaping business I worked hard, but I hadn't been disciplined. Short on money and time, I resigned myself to working for someone else for the next 15 years. Where I learned discipline and confidence.
Personal Development
I first got involved in personal development during my late teen years, which was over 20 years ago. In fact I have read over 100 books on personal development, and listened to many tapes and CD's.
