About Me
Hey! My name is Roger D. Blackwell. Please call me Roger. I'm living in Abilene, Tx where I've been since August 1998. I moved here from Las Vegas, Nv. just because I was ready for a major change. Boy, is this a major change. I still love LV but I just couldn't stand the traffic any more. In Abilene you can go from one side to the other in 15 minutes and no traffic jams.
Abilene has it's charm and attractions. The number 1 attraction is my wife of 8+ years whom I met here.(obviously, if you do the math):) Isn't that weird? You go from a town of 1.2 million, and never meet anyone really worth even asking out, to one of 100K and meet the absolute love of your life. And people say God doesn't have a sense of humor! So in that area I'm very happy.
There's one area of my life that I've never been happy about no matter where I've lived. That would be the area of vocation, making a living, whatever you want to call it.
I've just never been happy or satisfied with a JOB. I mean I've done some interesting things, to include working in radio, but I'm never satisfied with 2 things...YEP! the lack of enough money and time freedom. I've talked to enough people and read enough to know that I'm definitely not the only one who feels that way. There are very few of us who can't wait to get up in the morning so that we can do WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO WHENEVER WE WANT TO DO IT. Sorry, didn't mean to yell:)
"Most men live lives of quiet desperation"(Thoreau) but why? Why don't more people invest time into the research to find a way out of the rat race? There are probably as many reasons why as there are people.
Just the mere thought of my wife and I doing WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO WHENEVER WE WANT TO DO IT...whoops,sorry, is so exciting that it certainly sent me looking for an alternative to working for 40 years to retire on 50 percent of what we can't live on now.
We're not there yet but I think we have a much better plan now than the one we were born with:) I think we'll be living that lifestyle in pretty short order.
I guess you could say that I'm looking for like-minded people. Call it wealth-minded, freedom-minded, whatever you want to. I know we're not the only ones dissatisfied with the status quo.
I mean there's got to be other people who want to be able to wake up tomorrow morning, over a cup of coffee with your significant other and talk about what you'd like to do that day or the next few days or weeks for that matter. And actually have the freedom and the resources to do whatever it is that you come up with. In other words to do WHATEVER WE(you) WANT TO DO WHENEVER WE(you) WANT TO DO IT! There I go again. Sorry but that thought really does get the best of me.
Hey! Just looking to network with friendly, freedom-minded people. Take care and keep smilin'.
