About Me
Here is my story...
All of my life, I've worked hard for companies, badly wanting to make lots of money so I can enjoy life the way I've always wanted - traveling, donating to charity, gadgets, dinners, etc. When I became of working age, I subscribed to the "financial formula" that the older generation followed: do well in school to get a high-paying job. Then, work hard to keep it, and live below your means to save money. I searched out jobs that I liked doing, and was fortunate enough to land them. However, despite doing what I enjoyed, I had a nagging feeling every time I got a paycheck...
Don't get me wrong - getting steady money was great, but I remember the first time I sat down and really looked at my paystub. I noticed that very sizable amounts of the money I earned were being deducted, and I had no idea why. At the time, I asked my father to help me figure out why that was the case. That is when I first learned about social security, unemployment, and the what the word "entitlement" meant.
The Growth
Since that day, every time I looked at every paycheck I earned, I was a little disappointed. Being told that I was going to make X amount of dollars per year became a kind of cruel joke to me. Of course, I understood the value and necessity of paying tax to the country I lived in, but was it really necessary for more than 20% of my salary to be taken away? That was like paying full price for a pizza and only getting 6 slices.
It was during those years that my entrepeneurial spirit grew. However, I never pursued it. Having been well-trained and practiced in finding jobs and working 40+ hour weeks to keep them in order to collect 75% of my promised salary, it never crossed my mind that there could be another way to make the kind of money I wanted.
I had heard of network marketing businesses, and was approached by several companies over the years, but I quickly labeled them "MLM scams," "pyramid schemes," and avoided them upon the mere mention of one. Knowing what I know now about network marketing businesses, that was one of the biggest financial mistakes I made growing up. Having only listened to others talk negatively about direct-selling businesses, plus not being interested in sales or becoming a marketer myself, I closed the door to a number of opportunities that could have had a profound positive effect on my life. All because of a label. What a shame.
While working at various jobs, I also noticed something that I found professionally disturbing. It was often the case that the people who were my "superiors" were rarely smarter or more capable than I was, yet they were getting paid more than me. This didn't sit well with me at all, but I eventually resigned myself to that fact, since - of course - that structure cannot be changed in the corporate world.
The Transformation
All of these life experiences started to stir in my head, and I began to notice other, different stories on TV, the news, and even on ads I saw online. I began to notice lots of success stories from average people, claiming that they had made "fortunes" doing business online. Not being a complete stranger to computers, I decided to look into how that was possible. I figured that even if I would never make a "mega fortune," it would be great to have some spare money to help with bills.
That search opened up my mind to the world of network marketing businesses. Having followed the "traditional" way of making money and being frustrated for so long, I naturally became receptive to the network marketing business model. I saw that it offered me a chance to make money based on my own skill, effort, and time.
Working in an office, despite the interesting work and great social contact, was overall unrewarding and punishingly routine to me. In network marketing, I saw - for the first time ever - the true potential and opportunity it provides. As someone who loves to learn and read, I devoured all manner of information on network marketing...and the more I read, the more convinced I became that the "MLM scams" (to which I had so crassly referred) were actually bonafide businesses. For many of them, their members were surprisingly making a decent living.
The Acceptance
Once I decided to get involved with a network marketing business, then came the task of finding just which company to join! I came across many beauty product-based companies, but I found it difficult to picture myself selling face creams and lotions. I found others that sold financial plans to people in need, and that appealed to me very much. However, the cost of entry was much higher than I was willing to pay.
After continuing this search for months, I realized that I was barking up the wrong tree. My emphasis turned towards building my internet marketing skills, realizing that those skills are the true secret to any network marketing business.
