Life Pays what you ask...so ask for a lot!

Hi my name is Terry Upton. I'm 27 years old. My life up until now has been very normal. I finished high school in 1999, at Richmond River High in Lismore NSW. I was always a good student and went on to university not entirely sure of what to do. I found myself completing a 3 year degree in Business & Tourism for no other reason then...that’s what you do after high school right...go to uni? After that I went and got a job in Hospitality working in restaurants and bars. I had a lot of fun, but I was ambitious and was ready to move to management. I probably would have been a manager of a bar today had my friend not rung me out of the blue and asked me to travel with him overseas for a year. I said sure why not, I guess I wanted to find myself and travelling was always something I wanted to do.

A whirlwind year begins...

I spent the next 12 months in Brazil, England, Spain, France, Italy, Germany (make sure you go to October fest!), Thailand and various other countries. I had an absolute ball. There's something great about travelling that lets you be free and not worry about where you are heading in life. By the time I came home, I had decided it was time to get my life going. I was 23. I had now travelled the world and was ready to get a career...but what career? I still had no idea what to do. My parents being entrepreneurs themselves (Blueberry farmers) said to buy a business. But I had no idea which business, and the thought actually scared me. So I thought about it for a while. I had just spent 12 months travelling, loved it, so I thought...'why not become a travel agent'? I applied for Flight Centre as they offered $40K + bonuses. WOW! I thought that was a lot of money. I made it to the 2nd interview in which case I crashed and burned on the sales test. Like I mean... CRASHED & BURNED! I cringe at how I handled that. No worries....so now I had to go learn a new skill...SALES!

A Salesman is born.

I jumped straight in the deep end with my first sales job as a door-to-door health insurance salesman. Now that was character building! I lasted about 3 months which I'm sure was the company average. But I did learn a lot so the time wasn't wasted. I then had a friend who got me a job in sales at a gym called Fitness First. I spent a year there polishing my sales skills, before becoming burned out. I was quite good at selling by then, but didn't see a future with the company I was in, and I wasn't making the money I so greatly desired. I then moved to Real Estate, as I had another friend who got me a job. (Who you know is everything : ) I felt like I was back at the bottom of the hill again, learning new skills and things to say, but I thought this was it for me; I thought I had found my niche. It was about 12 months in when I realised it wasn't. To be honest with you, I was sick of selling! It was about this time that I knew I wanted something else. I was searching, and low & behold I found!

A new beginning.

I found a small ad online of a mum of 3 who was making big money. I thought here we go again! But I wanted to find out more. And I’m glad I did. What I found was a community of entrepreneurs who are SUCCESSFUL, HAPPY, FINANCIALLY FREE & TIME RICH. Everything I wanted. So I joined this group of entrepreneurs and knew I had found what I had been searching for the whole time. Have you ever had the feeling where something just goes...'CLICK'. I love the fact that I’m an entrepreneur taking control of my life. This is the only way to live! I have never felt comfortable working for someone else and making them rich. My parents have been successful entrepreneurs and I guess watching them has made me want what they have. I like the fact that I’m now in control of my life and I know exactly where I’m heading. I'm involved in a very lucrative network marketing business based around the personal development industry. I work from home part time and I love what I do! Its great to connect and mastermind with other very successful, positive entrepreneurs. I'm in the right place and I’m here to stay. I look forward to connecting with other like-minded people!
