About Me
I'm a 37 year old, WAHD(Work at home dad) Not sure if there are any WAHD groups around, maybe I'll start one. I live with my girlfriend, Debi and our 3 children. Debi has a daughter, Casi who is 18 and a son Keith, who is 16.I have a daughter, McKenzie who is 7.
I first got involved in Network Marketing in 1994. With a small company called Amway. While with Amway, I spent a lot of money, I had to buy my starter kit, but books and tapes, for motivation and to give to prospects. I even let myself get talked into buying a suit and going to all the rah, rah, hotel meeting's in my area, Also took the plunge and traveled for days on the road, from Wisconsin, up to the U.P. of Michigan, then down to Charlotte, NC. There were ton's of people there to get a chance to meet everyone that lived in Florida, had huge houses, boats, new cars, and a trailer full of money.
Wow, I came home from that weekend, ready to change my destiny. I was going to tell everyone I knew about this company and their products.. I came back, and sat down and made my List. Everyone I could think of ,got an info pack about this awesome company I'm involved with. I was going to be able to quit my job and never have to work for anyone else again. They had the best products, that people can't live without. And why wouldn't everyone rather buy from themselves instead of going to the store. After all, a couple years from then, people were going to have scanners in their homes, where they could just run the bar code past the scanner, so there groceries could just show up at their doorstep.
I was sold on this company and the products. And all the little circles looked awesome on paper. It made so much sense to me. But, for some reason, I couldn't get anyone to feel the same was as I did. Well, I was able to convince a few. And of course Mom loved L.O.C and the scrub buds. Eventually I got sick of investing with very little return and quit.
It was about 4 years before I looked at another opportunity. it was home, phone service. It was the way of the future. Just get some friends and family to switch their home phone service so you can make a little commission. Very little commission. The guys that were in first, made a ton of money. Some of them made enough to start their own companies. Not me. I was already running out of friends and family. And there was no way I was going to talk to a stranger about this business. Out of people to talk to, I was dead in the water.
I continued to look for a way to make money from home, I discovered that people were getting rich from the internet. I've been involved with several different companies since then, but none of them delivered, what I expected. And I was still being taught old school marketing tactics. Make a list of 200 people, buy leads, focus on the products, focus on the opportunity, cold calls, etc. Sometimes it worked, but not like I thought it would. I was struggling, but getting by.
Enter, Attraction marketing. Could it really work. I waited a long time and tried to do it on my own. Finally, beaten, whipped and bloody, I broke down and bought Magnetic Sponsoring. A weight has been lifted and it all makes so much sense. Guess what everybody, it works. People don't want to get in business with you because of the product, not the company or pay plan either. They get into business with you, because you add value to them. It's relationship building.
Very shortly after reading Magnetic Sponsoring, I met a guy that has the same beliefs in, giving without want. I’ve learned to generate my own leads, advertise and drive traffic to my website for free. Forget what you've been taught and start adding value to others. Start learning how to build relationships instead of spewing your products and opportunity all over them.
