About Me
Have you ever landed in something in life and, looking back, you realized that there had been a series of “near-misses” that got you there? And that your experiences had prepared you to be very successful at that very thing?
That’s my story and how I ended up in Network Marketing and Home Business Mentoring.
I’ve heard it said that luck is simply when preparation and opportunity meet. Or, as I was reminded by Edna Mode the other night while watching The Incredibles: “Luck favors the prepared, Darling”.
From my early teens I was convinced that I wanted to be a printer and before I left my teens I was sure that I wanted to own a printing business. I achieved that by owning and operating my own shop for about five years. I loved the artisan side of printing, but figured out that there was more I disliked than I liked about owning a print shop (such as dealing with employees and the cost of keeping up with technology) I started looking for the next thing.
That came in the form of a teaching certificate for Graphic Arts from U.C.L.A. and an offer to teach graphic arts and printing at the high school I had graduated from. This was the early 80s and industrial arts classrooms were being mothballed all over the country in favor of electronics and computers. The nostalgia of resurrecting the print shop and teaching where I had learned was just too much to pass up.
It soon became evident to me that nostalgia is over-rated.
But that teaching certificate got me an interview with a paper merchant and launched a 25-year in the paper business. I thrived both personally and financially. My printing and teaching background made it possible for me to relate to my customers and long and profitable relationships ensued. At the same time I was able to teach and mentor people new to the business.
Being a salesman offered me the best of both worlds. I had the autonomy of a business owner and at the same time the security of a big company to back me up. My job, literally, became maintaining the relationships with my customers and I was very good at it. I was paid handsomely for helping them be successful.
When you’re a salesman, everyone invites you to see “their business opportunity” and over the years I was invited to,and successfully dodged more than a handful of pitches.
Yawn.br>
I was earning a six-figure income and really didn’t want to be bothered and, I’m embarrassed to admit it, didn’t pay enough attention to even learn the difference between the lineal aspect of my income versus the residual aspect of network marketing.br>
I was blessed to remarry a few years ago and Olga was able to keep my attention long enough for me to realize that the effort I was putting into paper would translate into a six-figure residual income if I joined to help her with her home business.
I did that and, even though it seemed so different compared to the way I had developed my business in paper, I started promoting product and recruiting just like my up-line taught me. “Old School”. All the stuff that you may be doing now. I have to admit that I wasn’t having much fun. Even more embarrassing was that I ended up being the guy pitching all his friends and family. Some of those people are still avoiding my calls (sorry guys…).
I decided that I’d smack the next guy who tried to assuage my embarrassment at irritating family and colleagues with “invitations” by regurgitating “it’s a numbers game” (Meaning that for every hundred or so who tell you to buzz-off, on will pay attention for a few minutes). MLM was driving me to the NFL (No Friends Left).
I kept looking for the resource to make it fun again and eventually ended up finding the same methods that had brought me so much success in my sales career. I didn’t have a name for it when I driving tens of millions of dollars in sales for those 25 years, but I now know it’s called Attraction Marketing.
It is how the most successful, seven-figure income earners are leveraging the internet and social media to grow their businesses.
This blog and the resources found on it are dedicated to helping people find success in Network Marketing and Home Business through Attraction Marketing. Whether they be mental or technical tools you need you will find them here. It doesn’t matter if you belong to the same company I do or not. It isn’t about that. It’s about bringing success and freedom to as many people as I can reach.
Your journey begins here, with a FREE video series about Attraction Marketing. From there, you can decide if you’d like help either taking your business from a hobby to a real income stream or take your struggling business to the top leader board of your company.
So, however you got here, I look forward to playing a role in your success and hope you will come back often and share with your friends.
One of my mentors, Jim Rohn, taught that “You don’t get what you need. You get what you deserve.” You deserve success and I’d be honored to play a role in you achieving it.
