About Me

Hi there.  I’m Venessa.  The proud mother of two beautiful boys, a recording artist and a business owner.

My defining “when I grow up” moment happened when I was five years old.  I sat down in front of our piano, started playing around with a few Do, Re, Me’ s and I came up with my very first song - complete with second and third verse.  That’s when I decided that I was going to be a rock star.  I would be huge.  I would be Kate Bush!!  I would live my dream!  Check out…  www.venessanolan.com

Today, three albums and an unrewarding, struggle of a music career later, I discovered that I AM a success, but success is not as a rock star.  The impossible happened…  I am a business owner.

Needless to say, my music career did not pay the bills, so I had to find something else that would.  The question was what?  I knew I was not the type of person who could work for someone else.  I also knew that I couldn’t sit in an office full of colleagues with deadpan-faced, doing a nine to five kind of job.  But that was what I was facing because apart from music, I had no other business skills.

I’m going to rewind back by one year.  I landed a cozy position doing contract work for a global mobile company.  I was responsible for ringtone content production.  It paid the bills while I tried to get my music career off the ground – and at least it was still in the music industry.  I did this job for almost 7 years when they were bought over by another company.  I lost my contract and overnight my carefree days of making easy money were over.  I had become so comfortable that I HAD NO PLAN B.  At the back of my mind I was still hoping to become that rock star I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl.

So I started looking for new opportunities.  I tried a few things that fizzled out very quickly because I simply had no passion for them.  Then a very good friend (who is now my business partner) introduced me to something that I knew immediately was something I wanted to be involved in.  This is how www.yourface.co.za was born.  From the very first day I loved this business.  But passion doesn’t pay the bills, and our business was growing too slowly.  I needed to make money, and I needed to make it fast or else I would drag my entire family into a pit of financial doom!

I lost myself in the info overload world of online marketing, but found some really fantastic tools and guidance from other network marketers and leaders. This changed every aspect of our business.  We’d heard it so many times, but finally we were working smart, not working hard.  Our website went from having almost no traffic, to having a couple of thousand enquires in a matter of weeks.  And these weren’t dud enquiries.  They were from people who were already looking for what we had to offer.  People who were ready to jump on board and join our business.  Our phones rang constantly with excited customers ordering our products.  We had gone from being the hunters to being hunted.  Wow…  to this day I’m amazed at just how easy it is when you have the right tools and the correct guidance.

I do have one regret…  I wish that I knew what I know now when I started my music career.  I would have learned how to drive traffic to my music websites and who knows – by now I might have had a Grammy on the shelf.  But for now, our home business is keeping me way too busy to even consider a music career.  But I’m living another dream now.  I’m my own boss, I work from home, I’m doing something I’ m extremely passionate about.  And I’m on my way to the top… fast.

If I can leave you with one message today…  NEVER STOP LEARNING!
