About Me
Wow! It feels good to know you're interested in me! :-)
You could be anywhere in on the BetterNetworker forum, but you have chosen to be here, I totally appreciate that.
First and foremost, you're probably wondering who I am, and why you should give me your attention over the next few minutes to read my story and how I discovered the keys to attraction-based marketing success beyond my wildest dreams.
If you have ever seen that movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" staring Will Smith, where burning desire and determination can beat the most impossible of odds to achieve success, then you'll already know what I am about.
Well, my name I'm Ollie Relfe and I'm a self taught graduate of the Web 2.0 school of "Corporate Escapology". And I'm a true believer in multiple streams of income working from the comfort of home - where everyone is a WINNER!
If you are anything like me, you've learned that the corporate world can be very exhausting, stressful, and frankly very disappointing with all the back-stabbing and politics. The simple truth is, I always felt under appreciated and under valued in the corporate arena.
Fact is, I was once caught on that relentless treadmill of commuting, grabbing a sandwich at my desk, dinner in front of the TV set, then catching up on work again in the evening before collapsing into bed to start the whole grim routine all over again - sounds familiar huh??
Small wonder then that people like you and I have ended up here looking for 21st Century ways to better our lifestyles with abundant time freedom and financial freedom.
And that's why I'm passionate about helping and teaching others the importance of taking control of their own financial future. But before you head on over to learn how I use attraction-based marketing to promote my primary energy drink business and generate positve cash flow, here's a bit more about me...
Humm... where do I begin?
If I were a glass of beer I'd be half full ..well, that's until someone shouted CHEERS! :o) ...If I were a household object, I guess I’d be an energy saving light bulb, as I’m bright, uncomplicated, dependable and useful. ...If I were an animal I’d be a border collie, because I’m very energetic, adventurous, loyal and I like to chase sheep.
Actually, believe it or not, chasing sheep would be tons more fun than chasing design agency Clients over their unpaid bills!
But on a personal note: I hope you'll find me much more intelligent than my attempts at writing wit. I have a good balance in my life between working hard at my own home business and taking life easy, travelling, mixing with friends and having tons of fun. Life is good because I choose it to be, and I enjoy my abundant time freedom.
But, when I'm not with friends, cycling through the countryside like a bat out of hell, or playing air guitar to U2, you might be lucky to see me in my shorts at the gym, or in the local pool doing a C-A-N-N-O-N-B-A-L-L.
Otherwise, I’ll be relaxing in my garden with a good book, being creative, painting another picture or planning my next business venture and vacations.
I also enjoy self-study, so I do like to read books that inspire and motivate to improve myself (that's how I came across attraction-based marketing). Life never stands still with me, and I am ambitious to always be moving forward towards financial freedom and greater personal achievement ..including being a much better chef. Okay, I won't mention the food poisoning episode!!! *lol*
I guess it is a pretty exciting time in my life and I'm enjoying the journey!...
But, it's had moments of heavy responsibility too. Like when I found myself being a parent to my parents - quid pro quo!
And, I thank my father for maintaining a *WICKED* sense of humour until the Alzheimer's Disease stole the last breath of his dignity. I thank my disabled mother too for unravelling some of life's mysteries, keeping me stimulated, provoked and entertained despite her lifetime of health problems.
And above all, I owe them both an enormous debt for showing me that it's okay to be different... so, being a "FREAK OF NATURE" it is then! *lol*
But, before all that...
For 17 years (Geez.. time flies!) I worked the corporate treadmill as a brand identity designer. I eventually became a founding partner in a brand design agency, creating corporate identities and branded literature systems for many household names and blue-chip "City" Clients. There was good money to be made in brand design and the new business referrals never stopped.
But, the daily grind of deadlines, the stress of employer responsibility, dealing with staff sickies, banks, private investors, government bureaucracy, and the partnership politics all made the venture lose its fizz, and eventually lose it's creative challenge ...I'd finally hit the self destruct button, and gone from CEO to EBO (Executive Burn Out).
But now what?
(..and I guess this is the bit you can relate too).
I'd already started to wonder how come as I got older I was having to work harder and harder just to stand still, let alone get ahead and really start to live my *BIG* dreams. Even with a CEO type income it all seemed to all go on the mortgage, car payments, bills, credit card debts, loans and health care to give my disabled mother a better quality of life.
Slowly, the realisation set in that all I really part owned was a well paid work-a-holic corporate JOB, that in fact owned me and my time freedom six days a week.
I became disillusioned with the corporate career plan and the mediocrity of the 9 to 5 grind. So, I decided to turn my back on the corporate treadmill and began looking for another way to replace my income. Which of course turned out to be my own branded interpretation of Mike Dillard's and Ann Sieg's magnetic style of attraction-based networking to leverage the latest 2.0 technologies and hang out in Social Networking watering holes like Facebook, Myspace and YourNight
And so... Ta Da!
We Fast Forward to today...
...And, I'll spare you the bump in the road details, and the challenging period of trying to juggle with being a carer for both parents, learning everything I could about attraction-based marketing and at the same time get my home-based business ventures up and running and into profits. Winners never quit, and quitters never win! That's certainly something that tested me while trying to stay on focus and develop all those good habits that all very successful people do.
But surfice to say, hard work (VERY!) and putting "peddle to the metal" eventually paid off, it allowed me to become a "Corporate Escapee".
