They can be transmitted by a hug or a handshake, on a playground or in a locker room. And can kill within72 hours."That is a quote from a recent article in the renowned Reader’s Digest. This article talks about the deadly MRSA Virus.

"Over the past three to four years, CA-MRSA has become an epidemic that's sweeping the country," says Robert Daum, MD, an infectious-disease specialist at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, who was one of the first researchers to discover and study community strains. (There are more than a hundred of them.) "This isn't something unleashed in hospitals. Community strains are genetically distinct from hospital staph, and even more virulent." Unlike the hospital bug, they produce toxins that kill white blood cells -- the body's main infection fighters, says Dr. Daum. "That makes them a double threat. It's not just a question of giving the right antibiotics. We're seeing aggressive, rapidly progressing cases. The Good News - There Is Hope!

The ingredient which gives garlic its distinctive smell is the latest weapon in the battle to beat the hospital "superbug" MRSA. UK hospitals each year. Researchers are now testing allicin products in a six-month study. Dr Ron Cutler and his team discovered the effectiveness of allicin in laboratory tests five years ago. They found it can cure MRSA within weeks.

It is even effective against the newer strains which cannot be treated by the "last line of defense" antibiotics Vancomycin and Glycopeptides."
