And So The Story Begins...
So I was born September 3, 1967 in Dallas, TX. My parents both worked in the Movie/Theater industry...my dad as a Stagehand/Construction Coordinator on Movies and my mom in the Wardrobe Department. Being as I was constantly surrounded by "Industry" people (parents and others including Big Stars), it only seemed fitting that I would end up singing in Choir throughout Junior High and High School and then choose it as my Major in College. So in 1990, I graduated with a BS degree in Vocal Performance and had high aspirations of becoming the next Contemporary Christian Artist. Upon my graduation, I was smitten with this young man and decided I better stick around my college campus a little longer and decided a Masters in Business just might be a great addition to my BS Degree and a good way to keep tabs on the young man. I completed one semester and figured out it was time to head home.
Where is This Path Leading???
I moved home and worked temporary jobs for a long while...banks and office primarily. I sang at church, but primarily, I prodded along in life. Soon that young man from college proposed and we moved back to the town where our College was located. We began ministry in the church through music in a paid position, began a family and did what all young adults were suppose to do...work hard, barely make it, and just keep going. After about 5 years, my husband the Pastor had a huge brew-ha-ha and we were out of there. We moved to Carrollton and began doing the same things...finding a job, working hard, barely making it and kept moving along. I found a job at a local church and served there for almost 10 years. I really liked working with the kids, managing the ministry, managing budgets, managing volunteers, planning events, building relationships, searching the internet for the latest and greatest and directing countless musical presentations as well as performing in a few.
At the end of last year, I started feeling this itch to move on. The church was in financial trouble, the Pastor was doing some things that I really didn't agree should be done in the church. I began seeking out some new opportunities.
2009, the Year of Change!
In January, The Marketing Couple posted a job opening for a JV Manager. I applied and have been with them since then. They have terrifice products to offer business minded people and are great to work for. I have learned an incredible amount about business, marketing, the Law of Attraction and more. It has been an awesome experience!
Now you may be asking, where does the Musical Theater thing fit in. My husband and I have held Musical Theater Camps for the last 10 summers. We have an excellent following and make some outrageous money for one week of work in the summer. This year, we are expanding and running 6 camps through June and July. Our goal, open a Children's Theater in our community.
The So What!
My husband and I have worked hard for "the man" for years and quite frankly, my husband is still working hard for "the man" by teaching music in the school. Now don't get me wrong, he really loves teaching the kids in the school, but sometimes those parents are another story. I am working for the day that we no longer work for "the man", but for ourselves. We have so many skills and with the right honing, I know we can make it in the home business field. That is why I am here...to learn from the "masters". I have extensive knowledge in areas of kids, parties, music, etc, and am more than willing to share, but I need to become a "Better Networker", so I look forward to gleaning from you and hopefully making a great contribution to you all as well!!
