Back in 1998, after spending 17 years as a Sales & Marketing Director in the convention industry, the company I worked with for several years was bought out.    Through this merger, I found myself like many other people … downsized. 

The dreaded “Pink Slip.”  What a painful & shocking experience that was.   It was also really scary!  I had been living in my comfort zone, with a good salary & commissions.   I thought I was valuable to my employer, and I made a huge mistake of thinking my job was secure.

At the time I had no real savings in the bank, and just received 2 weeks severance pay.  That wasn’t going to get me very far.   The thought of living off unemployment, a fraction of what I needed, for as long as it would take to find another J.O.B. was going to be a serious lifestyle change.

After crying my eyes out, and hiding under the covers for a few days, I began to awaken to the possibilities.  I began dreaming again!

“What If?”

What if … this could finally be my chance to be my own boss, to escape the Rat Race, and not be dependent on anyone else?

What if I could work when I wanted, where I wanted, with whom I wanted?

What if I could be in control of my own income, and not have that glass income ceiling right above my head?

I began to think about what it would be like to truly experience real freedom.  Time & financial freedom.  Unlimited personal freedom!

After a few months of research and exploration, I attended a business opportunity presentation for a Network Marketing Company that featured weight loss, wellness & nutritional products.

When they brought out the white board and began drawing out the possibilities through the compensation plan and those little circles with the one that had YOU at the top as CEO I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Initially I was inspired & motivated by the unlimited possibilities of achieving wealth through leverage & residual income by growing a sales organization, but …

Within moments it quickly turned into excitement & passion over how I would have an incredible income stream opportunity that I could offer to other people, and be the change I wanted to see.

I was excited that I could passionately be of service to others, and help those people who wanted the security and freedom this business and the Network Marketing & Direct Sales Profession offers.

I could become a messenger of hope.  

I could help people live the lifestyle our country and great democracies are founded and built upon… Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I could offer this amazing vehicle to other people who wanted something more out of life.  My mind was racing about how many people I already knew who wanted more income, more free time for family, a retirement income, enjoy travel, and experience more fun!

As soon as the presentation was over, my excited response was “I’m IN!” How do I get started?”

I spent almost 5 years with that first venture.  The mentors I had, a husband & wife team who were my sponsors, were the perfect fit for me.

They saw greatness within me, and helped me build belief that I could accomplish anything I set out to do.  They knew I would go on to make an impact, create success and experience the freedom I was looking for.  

They believed in me and that I would make a difference in the lives of others… both directly & indirectly, as our team multiplied into thousands who were paying it forward.

I am proud to say I have always earned a full-time income from Network Marketing since initially getting started.  I was fortunate to have begun with a company that had products that could be sold to customers for immediate income.

Although I have not yet achieved close to what I plan to achieve through network marketing, I have through experience definitely created  some real significant sales, marketing, coaching & leadership skills through developing a team of over 8,000 distributors.

To some people, that’s a large number, to others that is a relatively small organization. To me, it’s a start. The best has yet to come, but the adventure, the journey and experience are the real treasure.

It’s the relationships, friendships & partnerships that last a lifetime that are one of the greatest benefits our industry offers.

Back in 2005, because of using the Internet as one of the tools to grow my network marketing business, I met my fiance, best friend and love of my life, Roy Juers.  

At the time, I was living in my hometown, where I was raised, out in California.  Roy was on a business assignment from his former JOB and in my town for about a week.  He came across me online, we met in person, and over a period of time we fell in love.

There was one small complication, he lived over 2,800 miles away, on the east coast of the U.S.

At the beginning of 2006, because of the freedom to work from anywhere through network marketing and the power of the Internet, I was able to pack up and move across the country, and together build a new life together.

Roy no longer has that JOB.  In 2007 he joined me, became an entrepreneur, and runs his own home based business, and is growing his own Network Marketing business and organization.

We now live in Central Florida, and share our home & lives with our four cats, and are meeting new people in our local area.  

We enjoy traveling together, waking up when we’re finished sleeping, without the blaring sound of an alarm clock, and the freedom to spend time on wellness, nutrition, working out to keep ourselves in good health, while each fulfilling our passion of helping other people to enjoy live, and create an income, freedom and financial security in the new economy.

So, if you’re new to Network Marketing & Direct Sales and have dreams & a vision of growing a large organization, or if you have been involved for several months, or even have struggled for years and are feeling tired, frustrated… wondering if it will ever happen for you… understand this:

Your job is to get the ball rolling.  Consistently introduce your product, service & business & income opportunity to potential customers and business partners who are the type of person you want to spend time with.

Make certain you make the time to do this … every day!

The great thing is, you can do this while you go about your normal day.  They key is to be intentional about what you do.  I like to call this lifestyling your business.  Your lifestyle is your pathway to success.  So spend some time dreaming about the lifestyle you want to have… and begin to live that lifestyle now. 

I once heard it said to build your business with people you would truly enjoy spending a week on vacation with, and hanging out in a beach chair.  You’re ideally looking for people who are fun, outgoing, friendly, influential, well-connected, and respected by their peers.
