Bottom Line

Just from the subject line itself Driving Traffic Does Not Equal Having A Business. If you can not build relationships face facts and get out of the game!!

The New Money.......

Diane,

This was an intriguing video. As an online business owner it is so critical to not get caught up in the latest online fads. The reality is that behind all your marketing is a person clicking on it. People want to know you care about them not just their money.

I have to agree about the company reviews. After this video I am proud to say I have never reviewed anything unless I bought it and loved it. That really is what People want. They want to know what can help them in their quest for success.

It is so important when doing something to ask the future question. Would I be proud if my children saw this?

I look forward to more great content from you.

While you are absolutely right....

Diane,

You are absolutely right about authenticity. We all need to develop our own voice and value.

Still, no matter what... you need to know how to market too.

Everybody knows McDonalds offers cheap, quick hamburgers, yet they still spend millions on marketing.

Develop yourself, develop your voice, develop your skills. You cannot forsake any one of these.

Great Video! Great Message!

Awesome Point!

It is nice to hear the truth... I hope people will understand before it is to late and stop all this hype by copying some one's idea and polluting the web.

One, thing I don't understand why even some Internet Marketing Gurus are teaching to resubmit same content(articles, videos) in order to get more traffic...

Thank You Diane for your words of wisdom!

Good Fact, Known Conclusion.

Good fact, but if you consider it deeper, you are always going to need a medium, a method of getting your message from you to the customer. So yes right now if it's not Twitter, it will be replaced by something else.

Right On The Money, Now.....

How do we get this in front of people say they will take heed of the principles in this video? The amounts of money people are throwing away on these "Sponsor Five Bazillion People in 30 seconds" is unbelievable. Those who are looking for that silver bullet or inside tip are going to never be successful unless their business foundation is solid and built on relationship building. What a novel concept?!

Eric McMillan — Fri, 01/29/2010 - 10:58am

What are we Duplicating?

I know it's hard not to get caught up in the Fads. This is perfect timing Diane, I was just on Twitter today and I thought to myself, "This is stupid"! Why am I following people that I don't really care to follow. Seriously, what is the point! Why follow thousands of people when you can't keep up with all their tweets anyway!! I certainly don't have the time to scroll down just to find the latest tweet from the people that I'm actually interested in. Does anyone ever use the message feature anymore? You know, where you can actually ask them questions about them and maybe learn a little bit more about them. I'm all about building the relationships, people may think this takes too long to do, but just think of how much time we waste reading.... typing... posting... ... scrolling... when really what we should be doing is messaging...talking... asking questions and learning! Most of us are in a business where we need to duplicate, we need to show our team how to build relationships and actually talk to people. We need to be careful, if everyone is wasting valuable time, no one wins. We need to pay more attention to what we are duplicating!

Dana Prieur — Fri, 01/29/2010 - 11:08am

That is so true!

Thanks for sharing, Diane!

Driving traffic is good for business, however, that is only the beginning. This is a people business .. a relationship building business where people need more substance than just being part of a group. One of the ways of engaging people is to have one on one conversations with them .. I find this actually gives more quality to the relationship. The more you share with others, the higher quality that relationship becomes, the closer you'll be towards converting the lead to a close. That is why, my specialty is building relationships with people.

To Your Success!

I Don't COMPLETELY Agree!

Building relationships is important and there is some truth to that, but making super income depends primarily on building, maintaining and retaining traffic. Who's kidding who?

It is all about the game of numbers folks. You can only build so much relationships over a period of time.

To each their own. One must back up with stats over opinions.

Love what you say at the end...

Great video. You have some very important points, and I think these are the things that we all struggle with: to build or not to build, and if you do build, will the right people come?

I love what you say at the end and completely agree. All the numbers and analytics are a waste unless you have something to say and unless you are ready to be authentic and really engage with people. Very Seth Godin. Good for you.

All my best,

I appreciated the encouragement to think through things

While listening to what you were saying, the words or phrases that stood out for me personally were:

Authentic.
Caring.
"Are you basing your income on a fad?"
People are intuitive (relating to marketers being authentic).
"Is what you are working on now like an animal going to be here in six months to a year?"

Thanks for sharing. Worthwhile comments in my opinion.

Enjoy the day!

Back to Basics!

Thanks, Diane, for your thought provoking video. Although a relative new comer to using the Internet to build a network marketing business, I have already come to some of the same conclusions. In all the mad rush to jump on every new twist of technology to advance our businesses we risk forgetting the basics of building a strong business.

Clearly, we all have agendas. It's naive to think otherwise, but if we truly have a genuine interest in people: 1) it will show (as you said), 2) we will offer real value to people in our online presence -- without strings, and 3) we will build for the long term.

Yes, following fads may produce some quick and even substantial money. But will it last? Methods, techniques and strategies are very important, as some of the comments have pointed out, and we need to master them. They are the tools we use to build our businesses, but if our goal is sustainable income and growth for the long haul, relationships are the actual building blocks that will remain in place long after the tools have become worn out and obsolete.

There is a word that we seldom see used any more because it's become so rare in our society: Loyalty. And it's a two-way street. If we want people to be loyal to us, whether customers or team members, we, as leaders, must take the initiative to demonstrate that we honestly care about them. When you think about it, what we ultimately value most in life is about relationships.

Thanks again. I appreciate your challenging words.

Traffic alone is no business

It´s all about relationships.

I can make more money with twenty friends in facebook or twitter that are fistliner in my team than with thousands friend and followers I don´t even know.

That´s what I learned here: http://www.boostyourhomebusiness.com

You are so right, Diane, all the money is in people.

Best regards

Volker

You have some good points

You are very right in some aspects, people are very smart. Even when researching some marketing techniques to use to build traffic and leads for my business I noticed some of the things that you were talking about. Some things just did not seem authentic.

Some of the techniques are great, but I think you need to learn to apply them to your own business, and not just keep recycling the same thing.

Best,

Quaneshia

Love IT!

Diane,

So nice to hear someone else putting their views out there, being unafraid to tell the truth, I have considered this very concept myself!

Relationship is the key! But like you say, you can't build a relationship on ideas or things that may or may not last, anything you build, you've got to build it on a solid foundation and thats yourself! So I completely agree...we have to check our motives and intentions when seeking out programs and techniques, etc.. to share with the people we either do business with now or our potentials in the future! There are too many things going on in the world today that are shaky like quik sand if you will and we owe it to ourselves and others to be firm, concrete like tempered steel...You hit the nail on the head Diane...keep it coming!

Authenticity is the Bottom Line

Timely message. There are too many so called "reviews" of this company or that company or this product or that product, and most of them are mere skeletons, that say nothing. And if they do have some content, it is "flavored" to benefit the writer. It is true, the article is there just to divert traffic. I agree, the internet is becoming polluted with this stuff and it is high time we stopped and remembered what we all know, authenticity will win every time. We should never review anything unless we have used it ourselves and therefore can give an authentic review of it, for or against. That is what our prospects and clients want. They want to know we care about them not just their money.
And sure, we should make use of the latest online fads to get our message out there, but that fad should not be our business, it should be just the tool we are using today. That tool may change tomorrow with the new fad.
Diane, once again you challenge us to think. Thanks

Simply Great

Diane, Thank you so much for this video. I am an OLD time marketer in this new internet marketing world. I started to follow what all the gurus were saying and then got stopped in my tracks because it just seemed SOO inauthentic. You are a breath of fresh air in this world & industry. Thank you for bringing hope & help to me today.

Relationships

Thank you for the refreshing video Diane. The last few years i have played with my authenticity and how people react. You are right. They can tell when you are genuine or not. In working toward a internet goal I do lose sight of my business sometimes. I will remember your words of '..Is what you are working on now going to be here in 6 mos to a year?'

Thank you
Jenn
