How To Add An Aweber Opt-In Form To Your FaceBook Fan Page - Part Five
How To Add An Aweber Opt-In Form To Your FaceBook Fan Page
What you usually see is the videos will say for you to go straight to the code, get the Raw HTML version and paste it into the application called FBML. (See Part three regarding static FBML application)
This is what you would have seen on some of the videos:

That's where you're problem starts and I've had so many emails, pms on why their aweber doesn't show up when pasting it in the static FBML application.
If you are on that page, please press "Design" and follow the process in first designing the form:

If you haven't logged onto Aweber and want to start from scratch, then you need to login and click on Web Forms:

Next, I'll imagine you haven't created a form yet and even if you have - I suggest to not use the same code of the optin form that you have on your blog or capture page.
Instead, create a new optin form code, so you can see where your traffic is coming from and be able to measure your results. Click on Create Web Form:

You will be taken to a page to design your optin form, giving it a look, colour that works with your fan page. The page looks like this:

When you have added your design and then we need to save it to move to the next stage. Press Save Web Form and then press Go To Step 2.

Next, you need to direct what will happen when your prospects fill in the form. You can lead them to a thank you page.
Now, someone said, "can't I create a thank you page on one of my fan pages?"
You can but like I said in part one, Facebook does not belong to you and me. If suddenly they decide to close a page then you're stuck.
Best be in control from day one. Create that page and you get a domain name and find a hosting provider. You can make your thank you page on your blog and educate what they need to next.
Add your URL to your thank you page and click Save Web Form and Go To Step Three:

Copying The Code And Pasting It In Facebook Fan Page:
You'll get to a page that has three choices for you to make. It looks like this:

Click on the top one called I Will Install My Form. A window will expand open. Now, choose HTML Raw Version not the Java script. Below is what you will see:

Before copying the code, just untick the box below it and then right click on your mouse and copy the code. Paste it in a note pad for now:

If you're not using Aweber and it gives you a code, which has body tags, then only copy the code between the open body tag, and leave out any body tags, the way I have shown here as a rough example.
If you copy a body tag then your optin form will not show and nor will any design when using Facebook and Static FBML. Which shows how it's not really all about pasting all the HTML. This has caused many frustrations for business owners:

The next stage is to visit Facebook and search for Static FBML application.

It will take you to the Static FBML application. Just click on it's logo to go to it's fan page:

When you get to it's fan page, we need to add this application to our..Facebook Fan Page. Click on Add To my Page:

Next, we choose which Facebook Fan Page we wish to add this application to. A window will come up. Choose which Fan Page you want to add it to. Press Add to Page.
The window will stay open, so just press Close to get rid of it.

Time to go back to our Facebook Fan Page we added the application to. Go right to top, type your name or the name of your fan page and click on it:

You're now on your fan page. Under your profile photo, look for Edit Page. Click on it and it will take you to a new page where all the appplications for your fan page are:

This is what the application page for your facebook fan page looks like:

Scroll down and look for the FBML application you've added. Then Click on Edit.

We are nearly there. The moment you pressed Edit, it took you to a page that has a box:

Take the HTML Raw code from Aweber and paste it in the large box . Then give it a title. Scroll down to the bottom and press Save Changes:

Go right up and click on the name of your facbook fan page. When you get to your facebook, you'll see your tab you have created. If not, click on the cross sign.
Then find your tab you have created and click on it:

Now, you have your own tab which you have called free magazine or ezine. Click on it and it will take you to your optin form:

Congrats! You now know how to add your own Aweber opt-in form to facebook fan pages. This is just a simple way of doing it but you can get really creative and we'll cover such ways in the series to come.
We haven't even begun on how we truly customise our facebook fan page. For now, I just want to keep giving you these steps to prepare for the ultimate make over.

Very Intimidating, Yet Useful
I knew learning web designing would entail a lot, but OMG!! I am barely a user of the Internet, and now, somehow, I need to learn to build website, links, blogs, and forums quickly. At least I am a determined person who will get to it, though a little late in life. Thanks for this information. VERY helpful, and easy to understand. I think I'll have to stay away from the Facebook platform until I get other basics down first.
