Marketing Basics 101
Today we are covering the all important subject - Marketing!
This is a wide ranging subject and there is too much to cover in one little article. So the purpose of this short piece is to cover some basics and make sure that you have a foundational understanding so that you are set up for success.
So what do we mean by marketing? Marketing is putting the word out to as many as possible about your product or service you are offering. The idea is to somehow build a following. This is often done on the internet by building a list. Your advertisement is seen and a short subscription form is filled out. This is called a Capture Page; or Squeeze Page
Once you have a list you then can keep your list informed as to the services and products you offer. You can give your list good value and offer lots of relevant and valuable information. So that those on your list when they are ready to buy will choose you.</p>
The bigger your advertising, the bigger your list, the bigger your business. Most who fail in business especially on the internet, fail to advertise enough. It is very easy to underestimate how much advertising needs to be done to get the result that you are looking for.
Generally speaking do not concern yourself as to when you need to advertise but instead aim to get as much advertising out there as and when you can. Your headline is all important and must be compelling enough to cause the viewer to act. When composing a headline, it is important you are crystal clear as to what need you are addressing.
For example you would not advertise a drill but instead you would advertise how to make a hole. Thus addressing the need. So first remind them of the pain then offer solution with as few words as possible.
Most marketing has to be done on a continual basis and daily basis. It is very important that you continually monitor the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns and be continually on the lookout for more and more effective ways and places to advertise. All the while bearing in mind that you are seeking to connect with as many people as possible. Your goal is to build trust both in you and the product and/or service you offer.
The communication should never stop between you and those you advertise too… those who respond to you and those who join you. Bear in mind that retailing, recruiting and retention are the three vital R’s you need to maintain throughout your activities. Keep increasing your advertising until you can see that you are getting the results you are looking for on a consistent basis.
Understand your numbers…know how much you need to do to get the result you are looking for. Look to improve your ratio’s especially the amount of money it takes to get a customer. It is a good idea to become an expert first in free methods of advertising before launching into expensive paid advertising. Even if you are well capitalized it is best to learn and gain the knowledge you need to be effective in your marketing before paying for advertising!
I will cover more on marketing in my next article and hope that have gained a few nuggets of good information.
