For anyone, keyword research for SEO on their blogs and articles is the one key factor in bringing large amounts of free traffic to those places.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “keyword research is boring and I hate doing it”! Well it’s just as important as writing the post in the first place. If your post has purpose but nobody can find it you have wasted your time writing it in the first place.

You want people to be able to find your post and that’s why I am going to give you these simple keyword research tips. And I am going to promise you that it will not take long and you will be able to do this in 3 easy steps.

So to start off your keyword research for SEO you will need to get your hands on a keyword suggestion tool. Now you don’t need to go out and spend a lot of money on an SEO tool. You don’t even need an affordable SEO service.

What you need it completely free and is on every home PC throughout the land.  Ladies and Gentleman I give you Google Adwords: Keyword Tool.

I bet you thought I was going to try and pass you off to some affiliate link right? It really is that simple, yes there are services out there that will gladly take a lot of your money and give a fancy package but you don’t need to buy any of them.

So get your Google Adwords account setup and head over to the keyword tool and get ready to have some fun!

  • The first step is start looking for your keyword. You want something that will capture people’s attention, but doesn’t have a lot of traffic and has a good number of searches every month. Not asking too much right? Let’s now look at how many searches a month you should be looking for. Well really anything over 1000 global monthly searches are you will be doing great. Getting on the first page of Google and number 1 position and you could be getting around 400 to 500 visitors every month from just one keyword. But hold on, as you will see there are lots of keywords that are over 1000 searches every month but they will be difficult to rank for which brings me onto step two.
  • How much competition will the keyword have when you phrase match it? All that means is put “ “ around the word or phrase and it will keep the word together but maybe swap them around without putting words in between. Obviously words like MLM or network marketing will have far too much competition so you need to look for words that will have less. One way to do this is add words to make a key phrase like “secrets to network marketing success”. This will have less competition than just network marketing. You are looking for competition of less the 100,000 pages when you do a phrase search in Google.
  • And your final steps once you have found a good strong keyword is to put that into the search box on your keyword tool and Google will generate all the LSI words that are connected to that keyword. LSI just mans they are longtailed Keywords which Google considers to have a connection to your chosen keyword. You can use your every 80 – 100 words in your post but you can use the LSI words as many times as you like and you should add as many as you can.

So there you have it as promised keyword research for SEO in 3 simple steps. As you can see it is not that difficult to start your research using the keyword suggestion tool from Google Adwords.
