Making the Web a Better Place, One Link at a Time

Hey Ferny,

You are a fantastic teacher, and that's why I have invested in what you and Ray teach. This video today is an excellent message, and right on par with what you have been teaching all along.

I just want to point out what I would consider a message behind this message for those folks who have watched this video.

The one thing this strategy or activity of linking to others requires - maybe this is obvious - is time spent actually reading other peoples' content. It requires the active pursuit of studying and thoroughly digesting the content that resonates with you.

So for those folks who are maybe struggling a little bit (both with their business and with this concept), keep in mind that there are two aspects to this:

1. Social media networking - that's where YOU are out and about at your favorite social media locations getting involved in the conversations that interest you, and it's there that you can pass off other links that relate - other peoples' links like from leaders that point to high quality, high value content that you've already read and internalized and formed an understanding unique to you.

It's this act over time that makes a difference in gathering influence, winning profitable friends in the new world of social SEO.

2. The second part in this equation comes down to social media marketing (notice that I differentiated social media networking from social media marketing).
When you begin to follow what Ferny is teaching here, over time you start to see reciprocity. It might even be as seemingly insignificant as digging someone's article a few times, or reTweeting someone's content or "clipping" at Social Median, or as Ferny suggested, linking in a natural way. That's like making a Social SEO deposit, which will earn you capital in the future (if you consistently make these deposits).
So then, at some point maybe when you have a good piece of content out there, the same will happen to you. It's this form of social media networking that can have a positive effect on your social media marketing.

It's these kinds of lessons that I learned from Ferny and Ray in SEO Networker. It's funny because I was thinking - going into it - that I'd be learning a lot of pure SEO, and I did to a degree, but they really illuminated the point that Social Media has so much to do with it.

And you heard Ferny mention Charles Heflin, man! That guy is the real real deal. I highly recommend you swallow as much of his stuff as possible. I've been using his program called Social Media Science, which is a "Power" social media networking membership, and I'm impressed with what he's done there.

What to learn more about this subject, go to http://www.socialmediascience.com/

Thanks Ferny, you're making positive change on the web, one link at a time.

Awesome Video

That was a great and very informative video. I started to post it on my blog but it comes on when the page is clicked. Is there a way to turn it off? I'd love to share it with my community.

Thanks, guys!

Honestly, when all is set and done, there is not more powerful traffic and money making strategy than relationship building. All strategies (SEO, PPC, Social Media, etc.) work the best with this in mind.

Pure Awesomeness Ferny. So that's what's been happening. Well, I got to confess, it is one the most powerful traffic money making machine I ever tried.

Check out the article on what happened when I used Ferny's valuable knowledge on this. It's kicking off.

Hey Ferny, I'm getting skype messages from leaders now. Blimey. Didn't think it work that fast.

Great job Ferny

Adam just gave you some social proof as to how valuable this content is :) I'm on my way to doing the same thing. I finally figured out that it's not about money. It's about relationships. If you know the right people and you brainstorm together money will be the least of your problems. I'm gonna go check out Charles Heflin. Thanks again.

SEO Training

Very well done. I now have a greater understanding of how traffic on the internet can work for me. I am now even more curious about Mike Dillard's new Traffic Formula 2.0 soon to be released. Mike says that they are incorporating the principals of SEO into Magnetic Sponsoring. hummm very intriguing!

Natural SEO Networking

Great video Ferny, thanks!

Interesting because on my morning walk today I was thinking about this exact topic.

I'm an acupuncturist in a fairly small town here in Australia and a little while back a new doctor from South Africa arrived. I heard from a number of patients that she was extremely thorough and that she really strives to get to the bottom of people's problems.

Naturally whenever I had a patient that I felt need to see a doctor I would always tell them to go and see doctor such and such because I hear she is excellent.

When my patients would go to her they would most likely say; "Steve the acupuncturist told me to come here, he said you were excellent".

It wasn't long and I was receiving letters from her surgery with patient records and a cover letter attached asking me to administer acupuncture for that person.

The quality of patients that come from that surgery are excellent. Because they have been told by their doctor to come, they feel 100% confident in the treatment from the start and they often stick (pardon the pun) until they get better.

As we know "social status" and credibility is hugely important when it comes to recommendations about health and wellbeing and in the offline world doctors still have their fair share of that.

This is how communities are naturally built and the online world is no different from my experience.

There is absolutely no way I would send my patients to a doctor if I felt that the doctor did a crumby job or was just pushing medicine all the time just to get paid by the pharmaceutical companies...it makes me look bad if I associate myself with people like that.

So How Does This Translate In The Social Media World?

I feel as we build our networks, the most important thing we can do is share useful information with other people. That is really all social media is about, it's the new human search engine. Our communities are now deciding what content is worth dishing up, not Google (although Google is watching this like a hawk so they too can dish up the best stuff, which means we are all working for Google, never thought of that before).

If you just send out your own stuff or crappy promotional stuff, pretty soon people will stop listening to you. But if you do as Ferny suggests; share good content with people in your community, they will listen and people with authority in your community will listen (just like my doctor friend) and they will start to vouch for you and that raises your credibility in the whole community.

So all the social media stuff is actually a piece of cake, you just need to focus on 2 things;

1. Create really interesting, informative, or entertaining content.
2. Find really interesting, informative, or entertaining content and share it with your community.

But is it a good idea to promote your competitors?

As I mentioned, I live in a small town and there are a number of chiropractors, physiotherapists and other alternative practitioners that practice here. You could say they are my competition but I promote them every chance I get...

Sometimes for one reason or another I just can't get the results I'm looking for with a patient, once I recognize this I refer them to whoever I think could help them the most. Based on the referrals from my fellow practitioners I'm guessing they have the same issue :).

The absolute crux of the matter in all of this it that I do it NOT because I want more referrals BUT because I genuinely want what is best for my patients...and they get that. Even if I can't help them, they still send their friends to me for treatment. Funny old world isn't it.

A word on automation...

I've tried a few different automated systems in the past but it's like stealing from the cookie jar -- feels good to eat the cookies but you know it's wrong.

Google will always find a way to sniff out artificial communities and when they do, you'll have to go to the next system and possibly start all over again.

I've come to understand that putting out material that real people enjoy and sharing that kind of information is the best way to build a real community of kindred spirits. When people in your community enjoy your material Google will know and you can bet that they'll be serving it up. The people that spend all their effort trying to find ways to get crappy content to page number one on Google will sink link a stone, never to be seen again.

Google does believe in "people power"

Thanks for your great insights Ferny.

Paying it Forward and Elevating Others Returns Huge Dividends

I love your choice of music for the intro( and finally), it further reminds me that you truly are a "royal" marketing leader.

Great post! Your are a breath of fresh air.

We took your advice and took advantage of the Stompernet offer from your post.We have expanded our knowledge so much and thank you for sharing the link with the amazing offer. We could not believe what We got for only $1.00!

You did it with out want, We actually purchased additional materials from Stompernet that you could have profited from and didn't. I do wish you could have earned a few bucks because you deserve it, however I believe you will benefit more in the long run by simply walking the walk.

I believe in this method you speak of, social SEO 2.0 and will continue in the practice of it. You have taught us well, not only with highly valuable information by you also introduced us to other awesome quality leaders. Charels Heflin and Russel Wright I agree are tops on the list as is Ben Settle, all the trainers at StomperNet Jerry West, Leslie Rhode, Dan Thies, Andy Jenkins... to name a few.

I could not say enough about the quality training and continued leadership you have provided with in SEO Networker Mastermind and here at Betternetworker. This post continues in the same vein.

It's happening...update..

Well Ferny, it's kicked off. Just one video of value, and it's scattering. I did some more research and found there weren't any videos on how to upload audio on blogs for free.

Usually, there's monthly fees for such thing. So, I took added more updates on the BN article, revealing what has happened, like an update from last time I applied the steps you mentioned on video..and..

Now, this value, has scattered to other blogs, and they are reciprocating..below is the update to reveal social proof...

Great Stuff, Ferny

Again you remind me of why I've invested into much training with you and Raymond. You know your stuff. This gives me yet another perspective into the "giving without want" theory. OK, yes, the music is great too...makes me want to sip champagne and eat caviar, and I don't even like caviar!

SEO with Social Media -- What a Combo

I thought I learned a little SEO setting up my keyword-loaded blog.

But Social Media is a real mind stretcher.
By the way, I'm a member of Charles Heflin's Social Media Organization. His training is mind-blowingly good.

He's just about done with massive improvements.
He has 5 programers working 24/7/365.

I would highly recommend his free trial.
The education -- is well worth your time.
