Never Lose A Home For The Sake Of Gaining A Business

The declaration referred to in the video may be seen below.  An article dealing with the same title is posted on the BetterNetworker, and yet the video had not been posted in that article.  Therefore, I am supplementing that particular article with the video and a a few short questions for the reader below.

As mentioned, this topic would definitely be one of the so called "capture your heart" issues for me.  Having spent the better part of my professional life in the area of assisting in the training of men for ministry, establishing and maintaining a healthy, productive home life was never far from what I taught and attempted to live.

Am I a "raving success" on all fronts in this regard?  Absolutely not.  However, neither could I say that I have not been tremendously blessed in this arena of life either: I have been blessed and seen a measure of success on the home front.

I say that with a deep sense of realization of how close we can come to bottoming out when all seems well.  I believe we need to guard our hearts and pursue with passion the foundation of our homes.  As in so much of life, we need a good dose of purpose, determination and humility to keep us in balance while we do pursue this very worthwhile goal, but pursue we must.

Take care as you read this my internet friend, and may we stand together in our uniqueness while standing united in our purpose.

My Suggestions As You Review The Declaration

Read, reflect, pray, meditate or in any other way simply "take time to take it in."

Rephrase it, completely rewrite it, make sections in bold or as a friend of mine decided to do make it a part of a scheduled review for the purpose of returning to it on a regular basis.

"A Business Builder's Declaration: I Will Build My Home While Building My Business"

  • I choose to treasure my home relationships more than any financial profit I may gain in my business pursuits.  I choose so because I affirm that financial gain at the expense of tragic relational loss is a trade I am totally unwilling to make.
  • While I recognize the time demands needed for a successful business endeavor, I will seek to give whatever time I must to whoever needs it most, and to the best of my ability I will do so on their time table, not mine.  I choose to see those in my home as a precious people to share my life with and never as unwanted interruptions to endure.
  • When it comes to constantly being aware of the needs of those in my home, I will seek to consistently choose sensitivity over selfishness, compassionate listening over half hearted attention, and speaking with compassion and grace as opposed to speaking quickly without caring, decisively without understanding, and harshly without reason.
  • Realizing that varying degrees of failure accompany any worthwhile effort, I choose not to defeat my worthy purpose by demeaning myself when I fail.  Neither will I embrace any form of perfection as a needless, self defeating standard to pursue.  Rather, I choose to affirm my value as a person in the midst of setbacks, seek forgiveness for my genuine shortcomings as needed, and continue my growth as a person character in the process.
  • Because I care deeply about the legacy I will leave regarding my spin on life, I choose to honor the beauty of life by acknowledging laughter as a most worthwhile goal to pursue, seeking to capture “the joy of the little things,” demonstrating the value of gratefulness, and loving for all its worth because in the end it’s worth it all!
