Your Facebook Online Presence – Build Your Branding Strategy
If you haven’t thought about your online branding strategy, you’re already laps behind.
It’s not hard to quickly catch up, and even pass those who’ve been online longer.
Although you may have to invest some time in the beginning, it will pay off in the end.
It’s time to sit down and carefully build your branding strategy, not tomorrow, or next week, but right now.
There are many ways to do this, but branding on Facebook is a quick way to create a strong online presence.
Facebook Branding
I was talking with someone yesterday about Facebook branding.
Last year she went to a team training in her area. They briefly touched on the power of a Facebook online presence.
It wasn’t a long enough training to get into the actual strategy behind this, but they did talk about it enough to spark something in her to try.
Basically they gave her a loaded gun (her opportunity/products), and a target (Facebook friends), but they didn’t teach her how to aim or shoot!
Unfortunately this story does NOT have a happy ending. ![]()
Long story short, after getting excited over the prospect of sharing her opportunity/products on Facebook, she turned into a spammer.
She told me she spammed almost every one of her friends on Facebook. Asking them if they were happy with what they were doing, and not waiting for a reply, threw the pitch into the same message.
Taking no time to find out what their needs were, she assumed they were the same as hers, and spammed them.
Facebook Friend to the Rescue!
One day a Facebook friend posted on their wall, about how “funny” it was to see all these newbs try to use social media, and not know how to do it right.
She knew she didn’t have much info about it, so that short message stirred her curiosity, and she asked if she was one of them.
In a kind, and indirect way, she said yes.
Yesterday I could hear it in this person’s voice, how horrified she was the day she realized what she had done.
It was a turn off, and repelled most of her friends. Some to the point of using the Facebook ‘remove friend’ option.
By this point, no one wanted to hear her talk about her great opportunity or product.
She said it was the start of her downward spiral with her business.
If you are on Facebook, you are creating an online brand. What sort of brand is it???
Is it a brand that you can hold your head up with?
Branding on Facebook IS Powerful…
The team training was right.
But the thing to keep in mind is, all brands are not good.
That’s why it’s vital to your business that you actually build a branding strategy, don’t just grab the gun and shoot.
The key is in the planning. As the saying goes, “Failure to Plan is Planning to Fail”
Branding, or an online presence, is probably one of the most vital things to plan out if you want to succeed online.
Do you agree, disagree?
I’d love to hear your feedback on this, please leave a comment below and tell me what you think.
If you think more Facebook marketers should get this message, please make sure to share it!
Remember, not all spammers WANT to be spammers…
