Fresh Perspective

Thanks for a great video, Diane. This was extremely useful information for me because, even though I'm studying internet marketing, I've recently joined a MLM company that has me extremely excited about the product.

I always said I would never, ever recruit friends and family, but now I feel obligated due to the guaranteed benefits of my product.

Bottom line, your approach to the "List" was an eye opener for me. Excellent content, clearly communicated.

Keep up the good work!

Diane, you are really great,

Diane, you are really great, you understand the problem from begginers from the human site :)

Vivien Horakova — Sat, 05/09/2009 - 3:12pm

Diane, great content of value

Diane.

Thank you for showing us how to look at the dreaded list from a different and positive perspective.

Chris Grob — Tue, 05/12/2009 - 10:11pm

CORRECT!

Most of my network are in the ministry and naturally shy away from MLM because of all the "scam" companies that have put a bad mark on it. This approach is absolutely perfect for me and I am so angry with my upline for not telling me this approach... or thinking of it myself. Thanks!

Excellent information Diane.

Excellent information Diane. My wife actually did this when we first became involved with MLM.

Rodney Hutcheson — Thu, 05/21/2009 - 7:12pm

Bravo!

Diane,

What a refreshing look at an old problem. If you truly see your MLM/Direct Sales opportunity as a business, then you should be telling your friends and family about what you do. Everybody in my family knows that Aunt Jane has a restaurant, so why shouldn't they know what business I'm in.

If you are proud of your business, then you need to let them know what you are doing. Referral marketing is the least expensive and most effective means of advertising you can do. Not to mention that the "closing ratio" on a referral is higher than on any other type of "lead" you might get from another source.

Have a GREAT day,
Warren

What a great perspective on using our list..

I am sooo glad that I have actually saved my warm market for this moment.. after get this folks.. 10 years.. yea people knew what I did and I had a few family members who are using the products in my company..heck my best customer is my brother-in-law Steve.. I am like Diane, great public speaker but have really been shy.. what I have called in the past a "Undercover Network Marketer".. This technique is exactly what I need to use to approach my list of warm market friends and family is a non threatening way.

Thanks again Diane.. look forward to hearing more from you today on your training "Mastermind Call" call. Tim

Thank Goodness You Said This Diane!

I think you will enlighten so many. By putting this new slant on it. You have taken a huge fear factor out of the list making process. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great Advice

Dianne - I posted just such a video about 2 months ago. Great advice. It is all about sharing what you do, asking who they know - after all - When you are doing really well in 2 years you don't want your frineds to hate you because you did not let them know about your business! Right!
I always tell people when following up to bring in the "expert".
Most new distributors attempt to answer questions by themselves and of course they don't have credibility with their friends and neighbors - "the neighbors have seen you take out your garbage in your underwear!"

This is SO easy and elegant....Thanks Diane

This is such a great way to take the pressure off of anyone in the business. Made me think about the last time I just let everyone know what I was doing outside of the kitchen...and it has been too long. Time for me to get busy...

Thanks for sharing this Diane !!

Great teaching as always!

Diane-
Great teaching (as always) through this video. What a great way to look at the dreaded list of 100. You can utilize this list as a resource without putting on the hard sale and turning people off. I guess I've never understood why people wouldn't at least let people know what you are doing. You never know when you'll get a referral. That doesn't mean you need to put everyone you know through your entire presentation, but just give them a very brief view of what you do.

Thanks!

Awesome Message

When you taught me this concept I wish I have found you 3 years ago when I first got started in MLM.... LOL
No one wants to chase family and friends....at all
but your concept of approaching your list of 100 is pure Genius!

Just Awesome
Thank You for all you do

I've Been On Both Sides Of The Equation

Excellent video Diane! I've been on both sides of the equation in regards to people I know either I didn't tell or they didn't tell me. When I joined the company I am with, there were like FIVE people in my church who KNEW me and didn't bother to tell me anything about what they were doing. They also didn't tell one of the assistant Pastors of the church.

The assistant Pastor eventually gets exposed by his carpenter who goes to ANOTHER church and signs up. He shares it with his son. His son signs up. His son shared it with me and I signed up. TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED sales later, I'm sure those people regret not telling him OR me since 30% of those sales came from MY organization.

I made my list but there were plenty of people who for whatever reason I forgot to put on my list. I can think of at least FIVE separate occasions where I've gone to meetings and ran to people that I knew that joined the business AFTER me that I knew. Some of them were making money too.

Finally, my #1 producer and recruiter on my team went to high school with a friend who was in the business 2 years BEFORE any of us joined the business. He never shared it with him. I did because he was a former co-worker and he signed up with me. I'm sure it was a sad day for him when he saw my #1 producer walk the stage at a company convention for hitting the top position in the compensation plan and collecting a $2500 bonus, knowing that could have been a part of his organization.

I offer a legal product and identity theft protection and I've seen NUMEROUS cases where people who I know experienced legal issues or identity theft issues. In fact someone I know is in jail right now and probably wouldn't be there if he had the service because from what I understand they have a very weak case against him, but they are doing everything they can to prolong the system because they know their case is weak. Fortunately I did share it with all of those people, but imagine how guilty I would feel right now if I didn't share what I do with these people and found out they got into a legal situation or got their identity stolen.

Besides getting sign ups, I've also got plenty of referrals from people who were on my list that never joined themselves but referred others to me. So I agree 100% with what you are saying here and cringe whenever I hear some of these internet trainers out here say "don't listen to your upline when they tell you to make a list of people that you know."

Good Information

Hey Diane..

This video was good information to me.. Thank you so much for this awesome video... I am new to the networking marketing business. My husband and I have started our business and one of close friends relates to the making at least 100 people list and every time... You gave me a great way to look at people differntly..

Stefanie McMillan — Fri, 06/19/2009 - 11:22am

Great Video

Hello Diane,

This was truly great information. I know through my years of Network Marketing I have dreaded this process and have alienated many friends and family. This truly gives me a new perspective on what to do in the future.

Thanks,

Mike

What a perspective

Diane:

Thank you for the great new perspective on the dreaded 100. I almost didn't watch your video because I didn't want you to tell me that I still needed to contact them and try to "sell" them on my product.

Excellent concept - I don't want to find out someone signed up and didn't do it with me because I didn't open my mouth.

Bridget Johnson — Fri, 06/19/2009 - 1:54pm

Was it about leads?

Hi Todd, Was it about leads? How are things going for you?

Johanna Smith — Fri, 06/19/2009 - 2:08pm

Really good information.

You are absolutely right. When I started online business, I hesitated in the beginning to let people around me know what I was upto. I was worried about getting comments like "you are throwing your money away" "This is all scam". Once I started seeing results in my business I started spreading the word. This has helped me get many followers.

Yes, You need to let people know who you are and what you do and what benefit you could bring to them.

Thanks for the nice video presentation

Re: The Dreaded 100 name list

Hey Diane,

That was an awesome presentation and so natural the way you came across.
This is where social media plays its role, connecting with friends and others that we know, but without being so direct.

I use this strategy by inviting friends to connect with me, and as I post valuable content, they get to know about what I am up to.
Eventually they say "hey Erle what's going on then? This sounds interesting tell me more" And that's when this business just flows nicely. It's happened on more than few occasions for me.

Keep this great stuff coming Diane.

Best regards,

Erle

Very good angle to take

Diane, this is proberly the best way I have ever heard on how to approach the "list" issue. You are a star

Kerry Erasmus — Fri, 06/19/2009 - 6:13pm

Excellent Video!!!

What a great perspective on your video Diane...this video gives my wife and I new life and don't want to feel like we are burdening friends, family, & co-workers. Also, it sets up the mindset that all we are looking is their support and if they are interested we can give them more information. Thanks for your refreshing view on the list dilemma. =)

Great Perspective

This is a fantastic perspective in regard to building my first list. I have recently joined a MLM opportunity that I believe is a great opportunity. I dreaded going to friends and family because they are friends and family. What you're saying is very similar to attraction marketing on the Internet and probably far more powerful. Thank you very much for the tip.

John Albrett — Fri, 06/19/2009 - 11:01pm

Great angle

I have just started my 4th mlm and told my sponsor that I would not do the 100 but only internet marketing this time. Thanks for the new perspective. I think I will start putting my list together again.

Amazing!

Hi Diana,

Amazing and yet simple approach that I must say I have never thought of before. I guess I was so focused when I started a few years ago and blindly following what my upline told me for limited success. Your suggestion is so simple and yet very powerful. In effect to have a network of friends and family as your own private marketing consultants is truly awesome. And the best idea of all, no one need fear the dreaded NO again. Than you so much for your insight

A thought provoking new look at an old message

Thank you Diane for providing a new perspective on something I almost made the mistake of dismissing as an 'old school' marketing message.

Yvette Jones — Sat, 06/20/2009 - 11:54am

Wish I knew that years ago

Hi Diane
In my early years I sold Insurance and hated approaching family and friends Wish the trainers had suggested this angle. I will use this approach now in my networking business
